I just got my completion notice on the site today and it took a stern e-mail to the DPS took get it.
So I will agree if it has been a long time since you applied I would surely shoot them an e-mail asking what the hold up is.
I know that they are swamped with applicants but 6 months is outreageous... and by the way my dads is still pending so I told him to contact them as I did.

You bugged them and your got yours quicker buy 30 days or so.
I think that's the same bro.

We ran a little experiment in my house since I was very anxious for my license and my wife was interested but not quite as obsessed. As soon as I hit day 60, I was all over it. I called DPS every 10 days or so, I emailed and called my state rep and state senator on many occasions. I bugged the crap out of them. I received my "Active" notification on Day 143 (Harris County).
We made no contacts on my wife's whatsoever. She had no issues with the paperwork just as I didn't as she only had checks in Harris County just as I did.
The only difference was that I was an early February application and she was early March. She received her "active" notice on Day 179.
So, while perhaps it should be taken with a barrel of salt, in our situation, bugging them allowed me to get it a month faster than she got hers.
