Para Warthog .45 ACP Range Report

#1

Post by tomneal »

I picked up a Para Ord Warthog in .45 ACP last week. Finally got to the range with it on Saturday.

- Fit & Finish. The slide to frame fit has no play and the barrel locks up perfectly. The pistol is black except for: The Grip Safety, the thumb safety, the mag release, the hammer, the grip screws, and the slide stop. The trigger is skeletonized.

- The trigger is skeletonized and the pull is 5.5 pounds.

- I shot around 100 rounds. Some stock FMJ, some Gold Dot JHP, and some Hydra Shock JHP. All rounds were 230 gr. loads.

- There were no failures of any kind. (It's a 1911 with a 3" barrel. Some short barreled guns have had jamming problems.) Ok, there were a few failures. I was shooting 8" plates at 11 Yards and I "failed" to line up the sights properly several times. I have not shot it a paper yet.

- Recoil was harsh.

- Holster - It fit in the De Santis pocket holster that I have been using for my Kel-Tec P11.

Para Warthog

I do not yet own any Para's. A friend has an LDA and loves it. He doesn't care for the hammer back cocked and locked feature of standard 1911's. I personally love 1911's. I was looking over the Para website the other day and eyeballed the Warthog. It looks like a handfull. I just might add this to my list of needs.

Your in League City. I shoot at PSC in Friendswood (and some other places.)
On Saturday, I will be at Bailey's House of Guns shooting an IPSC match.

If you would like to meet me at the range some time and test fire the Warthog, send me an email.

The gun still needs 900 rounds to complete the 1000 round relibility test.
