Scared the tar out of all

#1

Post by thorkyl »

A few years ago, you know how New Orleans was after Katrina...

I was on the ground in NOLA 5 days after the storm, yes I beat FEMA there.

I was working as an adjuster doing apartment complexes is the "hood".
We where inspecting this one complex and had the property owner, maintenance guy
and an off duty SO with us. The complex was empty, with only about 10 of the 300 apartments
having anybody in them.

We are going door to door inspecting each unit. We knock, wait, knock again, no answer
maintenance guy unlocks the door, SO opens the door. The whole time we are shouting
maintenance.

Well we opened this one door, and there is movement.
3 large moving boxes are moving on the floor.
The SO, myself, and the maintenance guy all draw down on these boxes and move
back and start looking for cover.

After a few moments we start moving forward and realize that the tenant had a baby
swing that was still working and there was a broom leaning against it. The broom
was pushing the boxes.

All four of us called it a day and brought me to the conclusion that I could draw if I had to.
It answered that question, and at the same time scared the heck out of me.

The best part was the SO looked at me and the maintenance guy and said
"I am glad we finally have the bad guys out gunned."

That's great. Thanks for the laugh.

Do or do not, there is no try.
For those who fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know.
