High price at Collectors
Always have seen higher prices at Collectors. Everyone sells BELOW MSRP usually, and Collectors typically sells at that price point. However, I went to buy an Ed Brown Special Forces today. They are charging $200 above MRSP.
I tried to get them to come down to at least MSRP - they wouldn't do it. He came down $60. The guy there stated that he has to pay more to get these guns - however, the MSRP is already a marked up price. And, they ARE listed on the official Ed Brown website as an official distributor. They still wouldn't budge for a guy ready to buy one right there on the spot. Sucks, as I drove about 90 minutes to get there. Oh well...

That's ridiculous. Charging $200 over MSRP tells me they are either NOT a licensed dist, OR is into price gouging. I think the latter. Well, now you know not to visit that store again. Gosh I wouldn't.
But I'd also say, that it would depend on what his competitors are charging. The particular thing you're trying to buy could fetch a hefty premium depending on the demand of the item.

No, I don't see a rush on Semi custom 1911s to the level there was on stuff like AR15's a few months ago. I know they can charge what they want - but its not like I asked them to go down BELOW MSRP.
Re: High price at Collectors
Sounds a bit crazy to me as well, have you called Brown direct? From what I am seeing high dollar premium goods aren’t moving right now and whilst Brown will charge you MSRP they may be able to do better than their usual +/- 90 day fulfilment period. I'm saving for one of these myself and when the time comes I will order and buy it direct from them (unless I can find exactly what I want slightly used which is pretty unlikely)beretta-neo wrote:No, I don't see a rush on Semi custom 1911s to the level there was on stuff like AR15's a few months ago. Well, I want to pay with a Credit card - and places like Gunslingers take cash only. Can you pay Ed Brown directly and then have them ship to ANY FFL?
Re: High price at Collectors
Yes. They have an order form on their website and if you request a catalogue you get a hard copy form in that as well. Looks like an easy process to me.beretta-neo wrote:Can you pay Ed Brown directly and then have them ship to ANY FFL?

Collector's is a good place to go to touch and feel on products, but I always buy elsewhere. If you're interested in an Ed Brown, Nighthawk or an STI give Rob a call at Talon Arms in Houston (713-589-2740).

I'm pretty sure we can beat Collector's price on just about anything.

Ok, I'll check with him
Re: High price at Collectors
Another good FFL to try for STI and Wilson is Cypress FireArms. Perry is a master dealer for both. He maintains a good amount of stock. He is in Cypress northwest Houston. Tell him I sent you. PM me if you want more info.

Thanks for that info. I've been wanting to try holding some STIs, but I never see anyone in this area who carries them. Thanks.

Re: High price at Collectors
Well, I went ahead and bough a SF thru Top Gun Supply.com - I've bought many things from him over the years.
I prefer to see a gun in person, but he was nice enough to take some pics of it for me, and some close ups in areas I specified. I should have it Fri or Sat. It'll ship today!

I made the mistake of buying my first CCW there, a Kimber UC 1911. Actually paid over MSRP as well. Lesson learned though. i do go there to look and fondle though, it is like a museum.
