Re: Fort Bend County
Hi chucky, welcome to the forum! There's a great bunch of people here, and a wealth of information.
There's really no county-by-county statistics on your question. From what we can gather from the member's comments, the most populated counties are experiencing the longest wait if there are no hickups in an application(rejected fingerprints, photos, or additional documentation required), because of the delay in background checks.
By and by though, it's about 4 month wait....perhaps longer. So come on in, kick off your shoes and make yourself at home!

Re: Fort Bend County
Hey Surprised, thanks for the welcome. I'm technically a "renewal", tho I let my license laps 18 months ago. I don't know why, other than I just didn't make the time.
I carried a Para Ordnance P12 for years, and really like that as my sidearm. I recently bought a Springfield XDm in .40, and with the new IWB holster, I'm considering that.
So, I guess the waiting game begins. It just infuriates me that the rules set forth by the State of Texas....are not being followed by the State of Texas, regardless of department or division. The law is the law, and these guys should be providing CHL's as quickly as the law requires them to. But, if you let the fox guard the henhouse..........

Re: Fort Bend County
Update: I checked my status on the 16th, and it stated "Application incomplete - missing information - detailed letter has been sent." So far, nothing in the mail. The good news is that they opened the packet 16 days after it arrrived.
I tried calling this morning, but all I get is a rapid busy signal......

Re: Fort Bend County
Well, I failed to fill out the back of the form where you list your addresses. I've lived in my current home 15 years, and been with my employer 23+, so I didn't figure I had to fill out the back. Boy do I feel silly. I mailed it back yesterday.

Re: Fort Bend County
It took one week. I called the DPS number in advance, so I knew it was an "address issue", but not the specific info until the letter arrived. If you call the DPS number, you'll need to use your redial button, it took a long time to get through.....then I held about fifteen minutes. They were very nice once I reached them.

Thanks for the info- what DPS # did you call? Edit-"For assistance in completing the information required, please contact DPS at 1-800-224-5744" - this is the # you called?

Talked to the DPS since the detailed letter has not yet arrived - the info that is missing is that I did not list a second home address in my history, just the address where I have been living in Texas since I moved here in 1997....the same with my employer - same for the past 35 years, but that needs to be stated on the back.....what a crock! In my class we were told you did not need to go back further than 10 tears, well apparently that has changed.
I always thought my fingerprints would be kicked back

Re: Fort Bend County
I would think that is just an "excuse" to justify the slow processing times they are experiencing! any excuse they can find to "Cover their Ass" when the senators come calling.maxpower wrote:chuckybrown wrote:yeppers, that's the number!

I have experienced that with other background checks and I had to specifically address the paperwork which said " List your residence address for the last 10 years"...................... I would raise this issue with your state rep, as it completely sounds like bull to me!!
