Also, do the changeable grips really make a significant difference in grip size? I have rather small hands for a man and am looking for a better fit than I get with my XD.
Here's a 50K rd. endurance test (actually 62,333, but who's counting) on an M&P 9mm. Unfortunately, the archive shows these posts in reverse chronological order.....

I don't have the 9mm, but I have a 45ACP M&P and I don't care for it. Also there have been some problems with various calibers of M&Ps. Google around and you should be able to find reports. Try a Springfield XD and you'll love it!
Springfield XD(m) 9mm 3.8 | Springfield XD-45 Compact | Springfield XD-9 Service
Kimber Pro CDP II .45 ACP | Kimber Pro Aegis II 9mm w/Crimson Trace | Walther PPS 9mm
Bushmaster AR-15 w/Magpul pistol grip and foregrip, Bushnell holosight

I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

Was there anyting in particular that you didn't like about yours? Failures, ergonomics, aesthetics?

Edit: looking at your list it looks like you have the compact version. I have heard a rash of complaints about the compacts, but not much negative on the full size models.
