Re: April 2009 Applications
I called DPS the other day and was told the same thing...waiting on background check. Unfortunately, the lady couldn't/wouldn't tell me what agency was outstanding with the check. I haven't lived in TX in the last 11 years (although my home of record is in Hays county) and the last 5 have been Oklahoma, Georgia and Iraq...hopefully they aren't trying to verify my address in Iraq e
Day 90 and counting......
On a side note, I ordered a rifle from JP Enterprises 17 DEC (while in Iraq) and I'm still waiting on that too. Day 201 and counting....I'm tired of counting and waiting.

Haha, nice. You even mailed yours almost a week after I mailed mine. At least I've got lots of stuff going on in school to keep me busy.btm7687 wrote:Hood County

Re: April 2009 Applications
Just got off the phone with DPS to check the status (since it only shows "Processing Application" online).
I was told that my BG check just came back and that everything else was in. I was then told to call back by the 2nd week of August. I wanted to try and get more information, but the technician seemed a bit haggard (I had a lengthy wait on hold) so I just wished her a great day and thanked her for helping me. I'll call back in a week or so.
So it appears that from the time the PIN was sent (application actually in the system) it took about a month for my BG check to get completed. BTW, I am in Tarrant County.
04.18.2009 : CHL Course Completed
04.20.2009 : Paperwork Mailed
04.24.2009 : Paperwork Received
04.30.2009 : DPS Cashed Money Order
06.03.2009 : PIN mailed via snail mail.
XX.XX.XXXX : Application Approved
XX.XX.XXXX : In Hand
Day 74 and counting...

DPS received my app 1 day before yours, but I made a mistake on the finger print cards and had about 1 week delay. Does this mean I start over? It could be another 60 days because of my error?

The only thing worse than processing application is application approved and wating for it in the mail.
I swear I run to the mail box everyday like a nine year old wating for my "Ovaltine" secret code.

Re: April 2009 Applications
Hey y'all
I am new to the board and just wanted to say hello to everyone.
Sure does take DPS a while to process, I mean I am retired USAF 24 years, have an active security clearance (not the highest one I have ever had if you get my drift), been in TX since 02... how hard is it to run a background check? Must admit 2/3rds of my CHL class have had issues with their finger print cards, and several have had other problems with their applications.
Our CHL Class was on the 4th of April
Package sent to DPS on the 6th of April
Not sure when I got the pin
FP Card returned late May/returned the same day
I live in La Vernia township in Wilson County
Tomorrow will be 93 days, did y'all call them to follow up at any point?
Shifting Gears here (sorry), but this seems to be a great forum, I have learned quite a lot since finding it, and have filled in a few blanks left out there from the CHL class. Thanks to the site owner(s) and kudos to the moderators for a great service to the Texas Concealed Community!!! Also I wanted to add, I did not see a lot of flaming and feuding like on other boards, so hats off to the members too!!!
All the best!
Dan
