Post by wrightcrew »

Does anyone in this forum belong to Haltom City RPC? It looks like a good club, and I'm interested in joining, but I'd like some feedback if anyone has any.

Thanks.

I've never heard of it, is it a private club?
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

Yes, it is. Their website is http://www.haltomcityrpc.org and I believe they have about 350 members or so.

Hmm... is it a gun range that requires membership?

It is a good range to go and shoot.

Yes you have to be a member, and the membership is $90-100.00 per year
and 70-80 dollars for dues every year
I believe that is the amount.

It is set up rather well, 2 pistol bays, short range rifle and 100yd rifle.

It is shaded and outdoors.

I have been kicking the idea around of joining since Backwoods Traps closed down.

I really do not like public ranges... To many idiots

I have a friend who recently joined. He speaks highly of the place, and has invited me. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I am looking forward to going.

A guy we go to church with is a member and invited a lot of us out when they had an "open" weekend. I think we paid a $7 guest fee for the day. It was very nice. . . if I lived a little closer I'd join in a heartbeat. It might get hot in the summer, but it's covered and they have plenty of large box fans. The officers were very friendly. The handgun area is nice and the rifle area is expansive. They even had two stations with plates to shoot at - I think six plates in each booth. You knock them down (hopefully) and pull a rope to set them back up.

I'd go here on another invite without hesitation. If you live close enough, I think the dues are very reasonable.
