Hooters signage ?

#1

Post by .45mac.40 »

Went to Hooters (restaurant) for the good food I have heard about (( Seriously ))
The inner door, I noticed two signs, One saying No Guns allowed and the other, something about No lic. in possession of ....
(( I did honor their request and returned to my vehicle and locked up the pistol )) Never saw a 51 % sign.
Talking with the Manager about his signage, I could tell he was not sure how it implied or what he was to do.
He remarked, this was a restaurant and he thought that only Police officers were O.K. to carry ... ?
Once, he saw a guy in plain clothes carrying and it kinda bothered him, THEN, he noticed the badge next to the pistol !
He thinks that only Cops can carry in his restaurant.

The Hooters restaurant at the River Center Mall on the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio had the standard TABC signed (unlicensed possession of a concealed weapon is a felony ...) so carrying with a CHL was fine.

I'll ignore the food and go back to the topic at hand...

If it's not a legal 30.06 sign, I simply ignore them and walk right past.

Those signs did not apply to you. they were for the UNlicensed possesion; which is a sign they must post if they sell alcohol.
whatever their manager said was his opinion.

Hooters, et al, is not a 51% establishment, so you're good to go.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

The signs are there to indicate that the establishment qualifies as a place where the crime of carrying a handgun without a license is a felony rather than a misdemeanor.

Simply discussing it with him could be interpeted as giving a 30.06 verbal.

These places must come real close to 51% .. they serve only snacks and appetizers for food, and serve large quantities of beer. Not that I would ever go to such a place!! I wouldn't be surprised to discover some are 51%ers

Never have seen a 51% sign at a Hooters--sometimes "no guns" and others "unlicensed posession..."
Maybe people ARE going there for the food, if total revenue for liquor is under 51%
