Re: April 2009 Applications
im certainly no expert....but i think the biggest delays are the background checks, therefor a finger print redo shouldnt cause too much , if any extra time....look at it like this..atleast you know they are getting something done.Aladinbama wrote:Bump in the road - isn't there always at least one when dealing with the government.
I received a packet stating my fingerprints need to be re-done. Already have an appointment on Monday to have it done at one of their F.A.S.T. locations. Hopefully, this won't delay "things" to much - I hope they have worked on background checks, etc. already - I doubt it, but it would be nice if this were the last hurdle. Tom

Re: April 2009 Applications
Sure enough talked to my family as they were sitting in the DFW International terminal (<--jealous if you can't tell; everyone else is going to London/Scotland for a week, but I get lucky and have summer classes). Remember to finally ask my father about the PIN, and sure enough, "Oh yeah, those came about 3 weeks ago." He said he has been checking the past few weeks and it is still on "Processing Application," but since he was born out of the country, they sent him a letter and he had to send in more information. I'm hoping that since we sent them in at the same time and he got a letter and I heard nothing that all is going well

Re: April 2009 Applications
I just received a letter back from DPS saying that the photo provided was of "poor quality" and was "pixelated"... crazy thing is the picture was taken and reviewed by the Top Gun CHL course and to me it doesn't seem pixelated at all, even when viewing under a magnifying glass, the top gun instructor even inspects the image. My question is can I call and challenge their finding and point out their error or is it easier to just go get new pictures taken? The problem is I took the pictures at Top Gun because I wanted to be sure that they would be accepted, and I've seen some of the passport photos camera shops and drug stores take and I'd be worried that they wouldn't be accepted either. Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated.

Re: April 2009 Applications
I saw on channel 11 last night that Harris county back ground checks will be extended 30 days because of the influx of applications. Maybe they need some more people to help with the back ground checks.
Solution: Do a back ground dheck on some of the unemployed people who have filed applications for their chl and then hire them to help. They would not have to be trained in law enforcement, just how to do a back ground check. How difficult can it be?

Re: April 2009 Applications
Extended 30 days from what? They don't feel like they are bound to any statute so I fear it is extended 30 days from whenever someone would suggest it should have been done already. So, 60 days + 30 days unless they can't get it done in that timeframe and then it is 30 days from that date and potentially 30 days from that date... etc, etc.gwtrikenut wrote:I saw on channel 11 last night that Harris county back ground checks will be extended 30 days because of the influx of applications.
