Mesquite PD
Every so often, we get a client from the EU that comes over for meetings. Conversations usually start out that they can't believe what we own here, and ends up with a trip to the range and a photo session.
Day started fine, loaded up the X-5 to the gills. Rifles, pistols, carbines, shotguns, precision rifle, 6 ammo cans, hard cases, soft cases.
Headed to a range in Mesquite or Garland, our first time there, but close to where we picked up the client from his hotel. We never made it there.
Speeding Cherrokee runs a red light, hits us hard right at the left front wheel.
Airbags all around us saved us from anything more than some bruising. SUV is totalled. Cherrokee is missing the airbag, but everyone was buckled up, including two kids in car seats in the back. Shook up pretty good, and mom goes to hospital for observation.
First LEO shows up, we're out of the vehicle. We explain what happened, and where we were headed, and what's in the car.
By this time, we have about 5 other officers directing traffic, taking reports. We explain we have a vehicle coming to offload our cargo. He goes to each officer, tells them what is going to happen. Our van shows up and we begin removing our equipment. One officer starts to make a comment about what we have, and the original officer tells him not to worry about it, we're some of the "good guys".
My partner and I follow up with letters to the Mesquite PD, thanking them for their professionalism.
Our client was absolutely positive he was going to jail for a very long time. He couldn't believe we weren't arrested on the spot for something. He was already on the phone with his wife!

EU- European Union. I think this particular client was from England or Wales.
A few years ago, we were in your shop and rented an MP5 for fun.
We don't have the MP anymore, but do have an Uzi. Thats FAST fun. lol

Hah....thats the same thing I was wondering.
Spartans ask not how many, but where!
We never made it to the range. It took a couple of hours to get things sorted out. Lady that hit us sued, looking for an easy payday. BMW was a company vehicle and she saw $$ signs. Insurance company is handling it now.
Client was very shacken up, not because of the actual accident, but all of the police and equipment. Ended by taking him to a nice lunch and dulling some of his nervousness. He hasn't been back since, and most likely thinks were crazy.

Hehehe. His trip to Texas was quite eventful! He will forever tell the story of his trip to the American "Wild West".tvone wrote: Client was very shacken up, not because of the actual accident, but all of the police and equipment. The saddest part of this tale is that the client was sure he was involved in something illegal, was amazed that you weren't all arrested, and most likely believes that wealth or influence kept you out of trouble.
And he never even got to enjoy firearms freedom before scurrying back to Merry Ol'.

The insurance company didn't bend over, which was a surprise to me. She said we ran the light...
Unfortunately for her, there were witnesses.
The client left a few days later, probably telling everyone about the gun crazy yanks.
No problem there tho', he's boss will be here in Sept. He's interested in trying his hand at shooting.
It was interesting to see how fast they go from thinking all guns are evil and only in the hands of criminals, to understanding personal protection and ready to try shooting themselves.
