In this case what's a child? At what age would you propose that someone could buy a toy gun without parental consent?kw5kw wrote:That's sensible.evil_smurf wrote: Perhaps then we should look into banning toy gun sales unless a parent or guardian is with the child.
Some would consider a 16 year old is still a child, but we/the state trusts them with the responsibilty of driving a motor vehicle alone. Would a 16 year old child need to have a parent to buy a toy gun?
FWIW I agree with age_ranger, it's up to parent to teach thier kids. Some will learn and some will not. It's unfortunate for those that don't. Most of us that have or had small children have or will teach them gun safety. I feel this this should also extend to thier toys.

I'm fine with requiring a child to have a parent present to buy a toy gun. The responsibility needs to be on the parent anyway.
Proverbs says that "foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him."
I don't think the rod of correction has to be a spanking (although it certainly can be), but kids need to be taught right from wrong.
If you're going to have a kid, you need to be prepared to teach them.
