Yes it does, it was actually tested by SML, it wont make you invisible but it will reduce the range at witch you can be clocked

A friend of mine bought a device at the Dayton Hamfest some years back. It was supposed to fool radar into showing that you are doing 55. He drove back from Dayton and was very satisfied that he had done all those high speeds and not gotten one ticket, until he got off the interstate near Albany NY and almost immediately got ticketed for 55 in a 30 zone.

It will save everyone some money and lots of angst if you'll just leave a little earlier thereby negating the need to speed.

I'm afraid I fall into this category, also. I have made a few mad because I drive the speed limit...

I used to have the whole K40 system--radar/laser detector plus dual laser defusers (http://k40.com/defu_main.html)--back when I was 16 or so. Never got a ticket, always sped everywhere. I specifically remember speeding past a patrol car at 70 in maybe a 45 and didn't slow down. My warning thing came on, and a car that was speeding maybe 50 yards behind me ended up getting pulled over. They work--they're also expensive--and radar is always a threat. Of course this was 6 years ago, and I don't have a sports car anymore, nor the lack of patience to justify my speeding.

If he's going the speed limit, how is that too slow :-)

My wife is always telling me about various speed traps and how she has to be looking out for cops and my response to her is that I drive within the speed limit so I don't care where the cops are :-)

Necropost, but figured I'd add my 2¢ . . .

I just bought/installed my Bel Passport Qi45. Prior to this, I had the Bel 975R (remote). My Impala SS windshield has a SunGate windshield which has metal embedded in it which renders internal radar dectors/garage door openers/gps/etc useless. So I have to have a remote radar detector.

My 975R served me reliably for 8 years. The only times I got tickets were when windows were down, radio up, cruising along & not paying attention & not hearing the alert. The other time was when I already saw the officer approaching opposite direction & THEN he turned on his radar.

Yesterday, after wiring up my Qi45, I decided to go see if I could find the popo. It took me 30 seconds. I pulled out of my driveway, pulled out on to the main drag, and immediately started getting a signal. I did a uturn to see if it was indeed one of the cops & not some false & sho nuff. He turned on my street & I pulled in behind him to park. I had driven about 300-400 feet! :)

The cool thing about the Qi45 is I have the laser shifter pack installed too. It's supposed to jam laser reliably (see testing at the link below). I have the diffusers directly underneath the headlights, closest to center mass.

surprise_i'm_armed wrote:When laser first came out, the word seemed to be that if your laser detector went
off, you had been lased and should get your license and insurance card ready.

My Valentine 1 will pick up laser scatter. Lewisville PD runs laser on I-35E, Norhtbound, near
FM407 (Justin Road). He points it at cars in the fast lane. I usually travel in the
rightmost travel lane and can pick up the scattered signal.

I have also equipped my vehicle front and back with clear plastic license plate covers.
The reason is that police officers are supposed to point their lasers at a flat spot on
the lased vehicle, most commonly your front license plate. The specific covers that I have are
said to diffuse the laser beam and will not bounce back cleanly to the officer's device.

Laser false alarms - These are also caused by Lexuses and Infiniti's that have some kind
of vehicle-sensing cruise control.

I am a big fan of my Valentine One. It has great range, it has arrows which tell you which
direction the speed-sensing device is located, the number of threats (in case there's multiple
officers working the area), and even flashes a "J" for "Junk" when it's had time to process the
threat. Many times "Junk" signals emanate from cheap detectors whose "mixing signal" does not
remain inside their units and leak out to be found by better detectors.

Not to get too far off-topic, but the television show "Mythbusters" on the Discovery Channel has done several episodes on "busting" the myths of defeating radar with license plate covers. Based on their research, you're best bet is to just slow down. :-)

as long as you're driving slower than other traffic, AND you're in the right hand lane , there should not be any
issues. Slower traffic keep right.... common road courtesy.
