Well - they fixed the problem. They installed cameras! And call boxes. So now they can have a picture of the crime and can call their buddies from the parking lot during the investigation. What more do you want, you gun nut?

They also emailed security alerts to everyone on campus! That'll show 'em!

The school board is taking steps to keep the campus safe...yeah right! Good Grief!
That would be funny, if it wasn't so deadly wrong!

Armed Man on Campus???
Can't be. They have policies against weapons on campus. Victim is obviously hallucinatory, the bad guy was probably pointing his finger at the victim.

The victim probably did something to embolden and encourage the attacker, and should be sued in civil court.tfrazier wrote:Can't be. They have policies against weapons on campus. Victim is obviously hallucinatory, the bad guy was probably pointing his finger at the victim.

I go to UH quite often, and the criminals are getting more daring each year. I hope to God that Campus Carry passes.

The sad part about that is they would rather succumb to having every movement of their life monitored on camera than to take responsibility for their own safety.

They could save all of that money for ineffective security by simply letting the students and faculty carry their guns
It is easier to get an airport security clearance than a CHL

History has proven that more police is the path to a police states and tyranny. Freedom is earned and maintained by an armed civilian population. Liberty has always been about empowerment of the citizenry and limmiting governments effect on her people.

Re: If i only had a gun....
I thought this thread was in response to the Diane Sawyer piece showing that a gun wasn't really going to help you in a classroom shooting environment. It was very convincing except for the fact that they used a professional combat pistol instructor as the "bad guy on rampage" and put average citizens in a classroom environment and performed the surprise attack. All of the armed citizens failed as they were intended to.
1. The armed citizens were given a OWB holster with thumbreak like LEO would use, and concealed it under a longsleave untucked form fitting t-shirt. So as they went to draw they got the gun or their hands hung up in the shirt.
2. The "bad guy" was a professional shooter, LEO instructor
3. The bad guy new that there was a "CHL" in the room and went right for him after taking out the "professor"
4. The bad guy new that they were shooting paint bullets at each other so didn't even try to take cover when shots came back his way.
In my opinion, for the scenario to be a legit test.
1. They would need to use real CHL's in the room
2. Use an average citizen as the bad guy, unaware that there is an armed CHL in the room he is about to attack
3. Let the CHL use his own gun and hoslter
The test also did not take into account what would happen in a real situation where a CHL could be in the room next door to where the attack started and was able to prepare before the attacker decided to go door-to-door. All along, CHL's never said we could prevent all things like this from happenening, we only state that we could most likely limit the casualties in these situations.

Re: If i only had a gun....
On a side note, I am a UH graduate. For those that don't know, the north side of the campus bumps up against 3rd ward. You always are aware of your surroundings when going into the parking lots and especially the stadium lot on the north end of the campus. This kind of crime is way more likely to happen at UH than a shooting rampage.

UH is in a lousy neighborhood, and it really doesn't matter which side of the campus you're on. We had a guy try and snatch a woman in the law center parking lot when I was there.
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal
