Teen punks murder American hero's dog

Post by pbwalker »

On Thursday I believe it was, Wednesday or Thursday about 1:00 a.m., Marcus is a guy who doesn't sleep anymore at night. He sleeps during the daytime. And about 1:00 he happened to be awake and he heard a gunshot. He lives on a ranch with his mother in Texas. He grabs his gun and he goes outside. There he sees, I believe it was four. It may be three but I believe it was four young men 18 to 24 years old, all of them, where they had just shot his dog. Marcus' dog is named Dasy. Each letter represents D A S Y represents one of the fallen members of his team. It was given to him in recovery to help him through the recovery process. This dog means everything to Marcus. Marcus had his gun and he took it out and he put it right between the eyes of one of the guys. He was standing away from them, pointed right between the eyes. Now, here's a SEAL team member who is wildly, he's just, he is having trouble, man. He is still recovering from his injuries. He had just gotten out of surgery. He's standing there with a gun between the guy's eyes. He doesn't fire. All four and he's just saying, "You killed my dog." They executed his dog. "You killed my dog. Why would you do that?" They run. They get into his car. Marcus gets into his truck, chases them over four counties, finally runs them into a ditch. He calls the Rangers. The Texas Rangers arrive and these guys, when the Texas Rangers are taking these guys away, Marcus has held them there by a gun. As the Rangers are taking these guys away, they're threatening Marcus' life and saying, "When we get out, we're coming for you next. First it was your dog. It's going to be you next. You don't know who you're messin' with." That's when Marcus kind of snapped just a little bit and said to the Ranger, "Excuse me, ranger, do you know who I am?" He said, "Yes, sir, Mr. Luttrell, I do." He said, "You might want to explain to these punks because I could have killed them 600 different ways and if I wanted to kill you guys after what you would have done what you just did to my dog, I would have pulled you down into my basement and I would have tortured you for days and you wouldn't have died until you begged me for death. So before you start saying you're going to come after me, you better learn who you've just whose dog you just killed."

They get into jail. These four punks have been killing dogs in Marcus' county now for a month, for joys, joy rides and kicks. Tonight Marcus is going to be on television and he's going to tell the story, and I'm showing the pictures of these dirtbags. And I want you to call PETA, I want you to call every activist you know. I want you to hear the story of a hero whose dog was executed. In all of the times that everybody is saying, oh, guns gotta be taken off the streets, you gun nuts. Here's a responsible gun owner that with everything he's gone through, everything that that dog means, these dirtbags come and kill his dog. He could have killed them all. He probably would have enjoyed it, justifiably so and he didn't because he's an American hero. Keep him in your prayers.

I cant imagine what I would be feeling if I got the guys that murdered my yellow lab. Both my wife and I are going to pray for his loss. I just wish there was more that I could do.

Nice story, but something doesn't sound right. He called Rangers? Texas Rangers? I didn't know they responded to 911 or 911 type calls. don't they usually work solo? Sounds like Glen is stretching things because Rangers sound better than Constable, deputys, or police officer. Maybe he called a buddy, but something doesn't sound right.

I found that very hard to read, it's almost stream of consciousness and some of the disconnects don't make any sense at all.

Well, it's got to be true, it was on the Internet for gosh sakes! :evil2: :mad5 :reddevil I wonder about all the talking heads both Conservative and Liberal. This has the feel of an urban (or country) legend.

edit: The dog being killed and Luttrell chasing them down probably happened the story was probably embellished for dramatic effect.

Glenn Beck's interview. Looks pretty true to me.

Armed men, on my property at night and just committed a crime. TX Penal Code authorizes deadly force for criminal mischief during the night time. Likewise if one is in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury. Protection of property and persons could also come into effect. Trespassers would be DRT!

I have known absolutely ZERO combat vets that had to explain how bad they were to people. Seems like a script from Hollywood to me. I may be totally off-base, but the idea of announcing your bona-fides to folks just rubs me wrong.

BTW I read the book based on the incident described in the Wikipedia article mentioned above.

Update:
Source - AP

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A highly decorated Navy SEAL who found his beloved yellow Labrador retriever shot dead outside his home helped capture the alleged gunmen following a high-speed chase through three counties.

Marcus Luttrell stayed on the line with a 911 operator April 1 as he tried to catch the fleeing suspects during the 40-mile chase that reached speeds of over 100 mph.

"I told them, 'You need to get somebody out here because if I catch them I'm going to kill them,'" Luttrell said he told the operator, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Police stopped the suspects and charged two men with cruelty to a non-livestock animal. The driver of the vehicle was cited for not having a license.

There are at least five area dog killings in recent months that could be linked to the case, said Texas Ranger Steven Jeter.

A phone call by The Associated Press to a Walker County court administrator seeking information on attorneys for the men wasn't immediately returned Wednesday.

Luttrell was awarded the Navy Cross for combat heroism in 2006. He is the lone SEAL team member to survive a June 2005 firefight with the Taliban in Afghanistan and was given a dog to help him heal after he returned from the war.

"When I saw she was dead, the only thing that popped into my head was, I've got to take these guys out," Luttrell said.

Arlington Cardinal:
UPDATE: MICHAEL EDMONDS TURNED HIMSELF IN TUESDAY MORNING, APRIL 07, 2009

Mug Shot photograph of Michael Edmonds wanted for investigation of shooting death of multiple dogs in or near Huntsville, Texas.

APR 06 2009 — Warrant out for arrest of Michael Edmonds for the shooting death of Marcus Luttrell’s yellow lab, DASY. Each letter D A S Y represents one of the members of Marcus Lutrell’s Navy SEAL team.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Michael Edmonds, call the Texas Rangers, Huntsville, TX (Texas Department of Public Safety) 936-435-0152. Ask for officer Steven Jeeter.
Another number given out Tuesday for those who might offer helpful information about this investigation is the Walker County Sheriff’s Department … 936-435-2400.
The guys down in Walker County are still investigating, but according to a Lt. with the Rangers in Huntsville said that they are not allowed to speak of the details, but are looking into any links between this shooting of DASY and the other dogs in the area that have come up shot and killed in the prior weeks.

Each count of animal cruelty carries a penalty of 2 years (if not mistaken), and could possibly be charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm with each count if convicted as well.

Two of the scumbags are not being charged/held as they didn't "commit the acts", and are held as witnesses, not co-conspirators.

Personally, I'd like all four of them to be charged with aggrevated battery and cruelty to an animal, reckless endangerment, and unlawful discharge of a weapon. Marcuss will be slapped on the wrist (no charges) for pursuing the scumbags, and allowed the successful apprehension of them. I don't see the reckless endangerment being pursued by the DA though.

Both Hernandez and Edmonds have been released on bond if I'm not mistaken as well.

Donations have been set up for Mr. Luttrell's loss, with approximately $3000 already collected in less than 72 hours. I know if it were me, and someone had just "executed" my dog just for fun, I'd have to say they'd be hard to find. Just my $0.02

Glen Beck and the media embellish...That is their job...The technicalities of their relating this story to the public do not bother me too much...

Marcus does not roll like that...Yeah, so he collaborated on a book about his mission and his shipmates dying in the line of duty...There are some things we all can learn from his experience...Whatever money he makes from that is ok by me...He deserves it...I have an autographed copy...

I think once these punks figured out who they just screwed with...They knew they were in heap big trouble...

It's almost to me like when the vets were coming back from Vietnam were being spit upon by some folks here..."they do not know what they do."

That was more than just a dog to him...

I'm going to stop now, because I do not want to violate the rules and decor of this forum...
