Banks

#1

Post by ClarkLZeuss »

So a buddy and I are heading back from the range on Saturday, and we pull into a bank so I can make a quick deposit. There's no drive-thru, so I have to go inside. It's a Wells Fargo, which I haven't seen 30.06s on before (at other branches), plus I've scanned to be sure. I'm about to go in, holstered, but then my buddy says, "Wait! You can't go in there armed." Now, he just did his renewal and I got my plastic just a few months ago. Banks didn't come up in either of our classes, so we have a short discussion about it in the car. We agree that we haven't seen anything in the law about banks, but maybe it's not the best idea to go into one armed, you know, just in case.

Afterwards, we laughed about it, and it really got me thinkin. And wonderin: have any of you voluntarily disarmed before going in somewhere, just to be safe? Are there places you know you can go into armed, but you still don't?

I disarmed for voting and jury duty. Otherwise I go somewhere else if my gun isn't allowed.

My credit union has legal 30.06 signs posted. I'm doing most of my banking at the ATM or drive-thru now, but will likely be looking for a different financial institution in the future.

Any recommendations for CHL-friendly CUs in the Houston area??

Did you read that before you posted it?

You're safer to not disarm.

To sss: If your credit union isn't listed in http://www.texas3006.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, please help other
CHL's out and post it there. The signup process is easy, as is the posting of a
30.06 or 51% site.

********************************************************************************************
My bank has only a gunbusters sign on the front door, so it is not a legally
binding 30.06 notification. If there's one place that I would be most likely to
need a gun, it's the bank.

I walk in armed, smile at my tellers, and smile inside knowing that I'm packing.

Yep - FCCU Houston is listed there, and I've been submitting entries at texas3006 for a bit over a month now. Maybe I'll email the CU's board to see what they think about taking the signs down. Highly unlikely, but worth a try since I really like this credit union except for the silly no-CHL policy.

Nope....but, I do have to confess that after I got my CHL and the first time I went into my bank armed I did feel just a little weird.

As stated before, I carry everywhere I go and if I run into a place that is posted... I just go somewhere else. :thumbs2:

Jefferson State bank in San Antonio, on Fredricksburg Rd., used to WELCOME concealed handgun carriers and use to give them discounts for their business. Don't know if they do that anymore.

Ha! Good point. But yeah, I meant safe in the legal sense than in the physical sense.

We need to see some Texas banks offer the gun giveaway's for CD's like the old days!

Nice shotguns or maybe even EBR's (while they can).

That would be cool and also send a strong message to Anti's! :txflag:
