Got an email from one of our informers in UT Student Government:
"SB 1164/HB 1893 (Concealed Carry on Campus):
--referred to State Affairs in Senate (
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/Committe ... ess=81R&Cm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
teCode=C570) and Public Safety in House (
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/Committe ... ess=81R&Cm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
teCode=C420); no hearing scheduled yet, but you can call members on
committee ahead of time and tell them about how our SG voted on a resolution
to maintain the gun ban on college campuses"
Any suggestions for UTSCCC people?
UTSG is moving to contact the committee members

I find it funny how any student government organization thinks that they have any type of real power or influence over state laws or even institutional policy.

You'd be surprised how deep these guys are in the pockets of skull-and-bones types of groups.will381796 wrote:I find it funny how any student government organization thinks that they have any type of real power or influence over state laws or even institutional policy.

These are the same bozos that said UT in Austin had never had a shooting...I remember August 1, 1966, when citizens pinned down, using personal deer rifles, Charles Whitman in the tower so the APD could get in and neutralize him. I was told by a a student rep "that doesn't count"?

Alumni matter. Student groups are only good for mocha latte outrage.Codename46 wrote:You'd be surprised how deep these guys are in the pockets of skull-and-bones types of groups.will381796 wrote:I find it funny how any student government organization thinks that they have any type of real power or influence over state laws or even institutional policy.

Love to ask that knucklehead why they think it doesn't count...They weren't even born...And truthfully, I was only 2 yrs old...But I know how my parents felt about it...My Dad just finished up his masters degree, and if I recall being told we lived just right off-campus under that tower...Codename46 wrote:When did you talk to this person?Reloader wrote:These are the same bozos that said UT in Austin had never had a shooting...I remember August 1, 1966, when citizens pinned down, using personal deer rifles, Charles Whitman in the tower so the APD could get in and neutralize him. Funny how a place of such a prestigious level of quality education, and the people that go there for that education, need an extra dose of common sense...
