Any ranges in Houston without one gun requirement

#1

Post by ml1209 »

I'd like to be able to bring several guns and not have to pay for each gun.

I think American Shooting Centers charges per person, not per gun. Not positive though.

From ASC's website for the pistol and rifle range.

(1 shooter / 1 rifle)
$3.69 per each additional rifle

$11.09 per pistol
(1 shooter / 1 pistol)
$5.54 - each additional pistol

Range fee is good for the day.
(One Free Target)

Additional Targets - .92¢ - $1.39

Steel Target additional $7.00

PSC (http://www.psc-range.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) between Friendswood and Alvin.

Outdoor range, everything from airguns to pistols/revolvers to rifles to shotguns to archery. Annual membership.

The only limit is how much you can stuff into your vehicle.

Pasadena Gun Center, 206 Shaw Ave, Pasadena, TX 77506

We have a 25 yard indoor range for your shooting needs. We allow any rifle and any pistol (just no shotgun or shot shells). The Range fee is $7.50 per person (this includes hearing protection and one silhouette or 2 bulls eye targets).

Seems like all the good ones are on the East/Southeast side of town. I live on the West side. And I don't particularly care for indoor ranges.

Bayou Rifles has a facility at Addicks, West of the city, for pistols and rimfire rifles only. It is on Eldrige just North of I-10.

Bayou is a membership club, not a public range, if that matters. They shoot Bullseye and metallic silhouette (used to, anyway) but no action pistol.

I believe Shiloh Indoor Range (near Willowbrook Mall, NW side of Houston) has the same policy - you pay for a lane, not per gun.

Another on the SE side is Sportsman's Shooting Center (SSC) on FM 2351 near Clear Brook HS in/near Friendswood. $12/shooter.

They do have some limitations on what you can shoot (no magnums, no lead, some others), so check with them before you make the trip.

Memorial Shooting Center & Gun Range at I-10 West at Gessner is per lane. They also have the cheapest ammo around. The facility isn't as nice as others like Top Gun but it is still a fun and safe place to shoot, and the people are fantastic.

50 .40 rounds cost me $24 at Top Gun and only about $13 at Memorial while 50 9mm rounds cost me $21 at Top Gun and only about $11 at Memorial.

I don't mean to hijack but do ranges make you buy their ammunition? if so, do they have more than 1 box of .45 on hand usually lol

You can bring your own to Top Gun but they are particular on what type of ammo you shot. Below are their range rules:

Range Rules

Gun Safety is YOUR First and Foremost Responsibility

1. Always keep guns pointed in a safe direction. Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.

2. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

3. Keep your gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.

4. Be certain your gun is in good working order.

5. Know how to safely use the gun.

6. Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.

7. Know your target, and what is beyond.

8. Wear eye and hearing protection before entering the range and on the range.

9. Never use alcohol or drugs before and/or during shooting.

10. Store guns so they are not accessible to children.

11. NO ONE is allowed past the shooting stations / down range.

12. REPORT ANY/ALL ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGES AT ONCE.

13. No Commercial Reloads. No Aluminum or Steel Case Ammunition.

14. No Magnum Load (357 Magnum, 41 Magnum, 44 Magnum), No caliber larger than 45 caliber.

15. All ammunition must be SAAMI approved Full Metal Jacket or JHP.

16. All down range & abandoned brass belongs to Top Gun of Texas.

17. No pregnant women allowed in the shooting range.

18. No drawing from the holster. Firing from the Ready position only.
