*UPDATED* Times are tough but lets help out our soldiers....

Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong forum.
**UPDATED INFO**
The reasoning for this need of supplies is that the guys and gals in this specific unit only have limited communication out to families by satelite phone with zero internet capabilites right now, and most when they do call aer getting no answer due to the 12 hour time difference. They can get most things from military but theres nothing more warmer than a package from home with these items and to see suport from your state and community. Like I said earlier below, these are intelligence folks under very hard issues on afghan pakistan border region in a red zone. Also for those that do have family overseas you probably know how frustrating Satelite phones can be due to satelite going out of range during a conversation having to wait 15 minutes for the next satelite to fly over to finish the prior call happening every 20 minutes is highly frustrating.

*Paragraph that was here edited for security reasons*

Me and the wife are looking into sending an air pump with a few extra needles to send along with a couple of deflated soccer balls and a couple of deflated footballs.
This team of brave women and men are gonna freak when this all comes their way.

I dont know how many of you actually get a chance to see these people off at the airports from time to time to see what life is actually like for them but if you want hard hitting good ol american pride to take your breath away just go any week to the USO office at DFW Airport to see multiple units being deployed and see how welcomed these soldiers appreciate even the smallest group of strangers shaking their hands as they board the planes.

A simple hug and handshake is life long encouragement and show of home felt support. Those things are never forgoten.

**END OF UPDATE**

TEXANS UNITE...

As some of you may remember my friend Travis from Forney who recently deployed to Afghanistan, well he and his men and women are in need of supplies.
Lets show our Texas Hearts by stepping up to the plate and see some donations if you can find it in you to help their cause.

Trav is part of a intell operation under daily rocket attacks and they are currently doing fine but just now got off the satelite phone with him and he asked if i could gather some things to send.
Trav and his team are currently working with what he says is a very nice group of Afghani soldiers who are working hand in hand with them They love playing soccer in the afternoons when air is calm.
Here's some of the items they are needing from home if possible.

Tooth paste and tooth brushes
Boxers small, medium and large sizes mens and womens
Foot insoles sizes 8-14 mens and womens
Magazines - reading material of ALL sorts.
Foot powder
Baby wipes cause they cant take showers in the afghan mountains for days at a time.
Batteries AAAA, AAA, AA
Hard Candies to keep their mouths moist peppermints and butterscotches
Shampoos, deodorants stick UN SCENTED PLEASE as requested by him, Tampons and pads
Dip. I guess he's meaning skoal or copenhagen types in small cans
Face shavers he has specifically requested the turbo battery oerated types. the kind that take the AA's like mach 3 turbo. shaving creams too
hand sanitizers
Puzzle books
pens and pencils and paper for them to write loved ones.
Visene eye drops
Lens optic wipes
Off spray for mosquitoes
Chap stick
Sunscreen spf 50 or highest

For those that have served in the conditions they are in if i've left anything out that you think they may also like feel free to mention it here or send it.

Currently he and his men and women are in tents with a make shift wall security gate set up on close to pakistan border, this will be their permanent setting for the next 15 months.
Any and all help will be greatly apprecieated.
it takes 15-20 days currently to get packages to them he says so we will take any and all donations up till next friday march 6th and then friday afternoon we will box all of it up to take post office.

All items can be brought to or mailed to:

Duncanville Outreach Ministries
202 E Cherry St
Duncanville, TX 75116
(972) 296-4986

ATTN: Diane his mother or mine Anita.
Also you can ask for a tax reciept if you wish just tell them you want one if so desired.

God Bless you all and our great state.

You will be greatly helping Travis a fellow CHL'er.
Travis has been serving our country for 14 years and has been to Croatia, Bosnia Serbia Germany, Russia, Italy, Iraq and now is currently serving a second time in Afghanistan.

God be with all our servicemen and servicewomen and we hope to see you all home soon.
God be with all our past service people.

Those care packages meant everything to us over there. Out in the FOBs (Forward Operating Base) they supposedly have a PX. It usually consists of a room with cigarette lighters and boxes of Ramen noodles (when it is open).
Women Soldiers are especially hard-hit as many of the items that they require for creature comforts are simply not available.
I will see about starting a drive here at work. When I was overseas my company sent care packages not only to me and my team, but to the unit that we supported and continued after I came back home.

BTW, can you tell us where your Soldier is? That sure looks like Paktika province.

The pictures of Trav I posted are from Paktika area if I remember correctly. He and his team are currently lets just say in and around the afghan/pakistan border northern area. An address we have for him currently is for the area of **CORRECTED** Panich/Kunar province . Not saying thats where he is specifically but thats where care packs are delivering to.

I'd love to give more details on what he's doing and where but I dont need my inbox filled again with a bunch of people telling me i'm like geraldo on Fox news giving out specific coordinates and to keep my mouth shut. Which is why I had gone back and deleted a paragraph out of the first posting update.

Thank you for your intrest in helping out and more so thank you for your service.

There are two adjoining provinces, Patika and Paktika. Confusing. Never saw a single paved-road, and I was all over the province (I don't count cobblestone roads in the village/town center as pavement).

I was just told that my post-merger company (now based in Switzerland and of French origin) no longer has a Troop-support program. I will have to see what I can do on my own.

Scootergeek, it was a pleasure meeting you and your mom and dad today. I'm glad my wife and I could help, and we'll be including Travis in our prayers for his safety, and the safety of the people he's serving with.

Thank you, Sir for all you brought. Pleasure meeting you as well. Look forward to barbecue.. :cheers2:

We found Quad a batteries at Radio Shack so all is good there, and Trav also spoke with his mother this afternoon and he now requested Toilet paper. I guess I just have no clue clue as to what they are truly going through. I'll be completely relieved the day he retires from all this so that I no longer have to worry about him daily.

Did the family like the Sadam/Iraqi money I gave you.

In a pinch, most 9V batteries are actually bundles of 6 AAAA cells inside the rectangular casing. It wouldn't be my preferred means of obtaining them, since that shell is usually thin, sharp-edged steel that can lay a finger open to the bone, but if they have some 9Vs and no AAAAs, it might be worth the risk to get some equipment running again.

Yes, they did. Thank you for those too. They were duly impressed. I'm going to frame them and put them up on the wall in my "He-Man Woman Haters' Club" (the den, where my gun safe, guitars, computers, and BIG television are).
