They work fine in my full size model. They even fit in the compacts, but stick out about 1/2 inch from the well. I havent tried firing them in the compacts, but they fit. I should try it. I heard something about the extra pressure from the spring causing problems with the shorter barrel models, but I know they work fine in my full size 1911.

I've used five of the eight-round CobraMags from Tripp Research (http://www.trippresearch.com/) for about three years in my Springfield Trophy Match. They work flawlessly. They cost a little more ($33) than the cheapest McCormicks and Metalforms, and a little less than the most expensive from those companies. I like them a little better than the others, though not for any real solid reason. One thing I can say is that when I had a couple of questions before I bought them, Virgil Tripp himself answered them and proved to be a very pleasant gentleman to deal with. If it makes any difference to you, both Tripp Research and McCormick are in Texas (Alpine and Spicewood, respectively) while Metalform is in Connecticut.

Chip McCormick makes some good 8 rounders as well

I bought 5 stainless steel match grade 8 rounders...they shoot absolutely PERFECT in my pistol!

Both the Kimber 7 rounder and the Wilson 8 rounder run fine in my Kimber Pro Carry.

Got 4 Chip McCormick Shooting Stars 'cause they were on sale. Good purchase. Couple of hundred rds through them and no issues whatsoever. Carry the 1911 a good bit and always one extra mag.
