Well....it looks like I am getting close. Took my class back in early October of "08"........logged on to the DPS website this morning and to my surprise.....the normal "Processing Application" had changed to ....."Application Completed - license issued or certificate active." Waiting on the mail now.........I feel like a kid waiting on Santa.....LOL.

My time in the waiting room will be over soon. I got the much sought after "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" this morning when I logged in. I think this pretty good time (12/10 - 1/26 = 46 days). While I would have loved for it to have happened on "BIG O" day, I am good with it being a few days later. Now I need to tattoo C Heston's famous quote somewhere when "O's" administration start messing with my 2A rights.

Yes I would say your time was very reasonable.........maybe the state and larger Texas counties now have enough people staffed to handle the work load.

I know that I am premature but I completed the CHL course yesterday with El Gato and will send it off first thing in the AM (Feb 2, 2009). Then the wait is on. So I think I have entered the waiting room. ;-)

Yea, I figured that that would be a nice touch with the plastic pistols.

It was great to finally be able to go out and not have to take my gun clip off and hide it under the van seat.

The first place I went was to a pizza place. I did get the impression that people were looking...although I was on the look out for the bad guys...like the christmas story were the kid is taking out bad bart (or whatever the thieves names were). and I, of course, offered to refill the families soda, etc. No one there could tell.

I carry my hi-point 9mm in a IWB holster (a little blackhawk $20 speacial from Bass pro) at 8 o'clock (the other side of 4 o'clock for your right handers) and as you can tell from the pictures at walmart, you cant see anything. I wore jeans and a t-shirt and the carry style ensured that I didnt print at all. The only issue that I would have is if I kneeled down, the butt of the gun would print, but wouldnt expose. Anyone that was staring at my rear end while I did that certainly wouldnt run me in :

Me and the kids (mom decided to spend some quiet time at home) stayed at walmart for a good 2 hours and it was all good. We then went to family video and checked out some movies.

I carried all day saturday over to a friends bible study. He showed me his .22 conversion kit for his glock. He and his wife drooled over my license and said that they will need to get theirs.

Sunday, took the boys to church and carried. No incidents there either. I may need to rethink sitting all the way in the back near the exits because who is the first person some nutjob is going to whack???? :headscratch

I am sticking with the motto that you carry 24/7 or guess right, so I will be carrying everywhere.

Good luck to everyone that is waiting. The time is long, but well worth it!!!

I should have mentioned, my wife entered the Waiting Room a week ago.
