Everything except the constitution. I don't see the power to regulate the transportation of private property within a state listed anywhere as a power delegated to the federal government.

Everything that FedEx ships goes through Memphis, Tennessee, which means that it is technically in interstate commerce.

I don't know about UPS.

I do not like the way these issues are dealt with, but they have held up under court challenges for many years.

Lone Star Overnight is not part of this discussion, as they do not accept firearms for shipment. The ninnies.

I posted in another thread about whether UPS and Fedex are reconsidering their regulations.

This stems from some online gun dealers now shipping handguns via 2 or 3 day service, some UPS and some Fedex.

I just bought a Makarov from a seller in Indiana. His initial inquiry at Fedex resulted in a $51 quote for shipping the pistol.

Two hours later he got a call at home from the same Fedex rep, telling him that she was wrong and handguns could now ship 3 day.

Revised charges: $21

They aren't doing any domestic shipping anymore in the US, except for a few commercial customers

Apparently, Bush & Cheney caused their company to get hit hard and have to shut down most of their US opertions...
At least that's what the libs are sayin 'bout it :totap:

Speaking of this... i shipped a revolver to S&W a few weeks ago... $67 on my end for FedEx and insurance. S&W shipped it back UPS, with confirmed delivery for $14.

It is absolutely nuts how the cost for me to ship is 4-5 times what an FFL or gunsmith pays.

They probably have a special commercial account with UPS where they were
given special pricing due to their high volume so FedEx won't get the account.

Pretty common...

I'm sure if you start shipping several thousand boxes per month,
they could set you up with a similar pricing plan

I am sure they can, but recently I shipped a 10# 1700 page report to someone using Fed Ex Next day delivery, and it cost me less than $30. Had I said, it contains a firearm, the cost would have doubled...that is the point, not the volume, but the dual tier pricing based on content. UPS and FEDEx are charging a "dangerous materials" charge to the non FFL, with a greatly reduced "dangerous materials" charge for an FFL.

Well, then somebody may be playing some pricing games...
Which is also common for large companies.

Most of them have the attitiude that we have no choice
but to use their services. Hopefully there is competition
that helps keeps pricing reasonable.

I did not notice the exceptions, and from what I can tell they were in that document since January 2008. I'm sorry about that.

Is it correct that Lone Star does not ship between non-licensees, even in-state?

I will call some folks tomorrow and get back to you. I am pretty sure we ship person to person, but let me check as it doesn't say so in that document. It does however say in compliance with state, federal and local laws. I really do not see us turning away legal business.

I deal with our HAZMAT and I do know that if you ship ammo, it must conform be in limited quantities and be shipped in accordance with Federal HAZMAT ORM-D consumer commodity regulations, and it must go via ground service, not air, due to these regs.

This thread has the basic gist of ammo shipping!
