Didn't you already tell us this info a few weeks ago? Nobody is attacking Ruger here, no need to come to their defense with posts about how wonderful they are. I suspect you got in before the lock... The rest of us are still waiting, patiently I might add. :cheers2:

Sorry, I did not intend for it to sound like I was bragging and I do not owe Ruger anything, they can speak for themselves.

I sincerely apologize, 03Lightningrocks, and to the whole LCP owners, that are still waiting, I did not mean it to antagonize you in anyway.

Ditto here... I have two LCP's and registered on their website in early December. I emailed them last week and also got the "we're expecting to get parts in a few weeks".

That's okay, 03Lightningrocks, it was more of my poor way of saying things... I meant it to be for encouragement, that I was sure they will get it back to you all as soon as possible. That is the problem with communicating with written word, you can not tell what the other person is feeling when they write the words. I try hard not to say something stupid...like my post...I just never thought of it being taken wrong. Thank you for pointing it out to me, I will try to be more careful in the future. :cheers2:

After reading of the time delays I doubt that I will send mine in.

Slide lock on mine work fine. I don't beleive that the LCP can misfire by being dropped. I use it as my daily carry and don't want to buy something else or be without for 3 weeks. Any other reason to send it in?

I called again today and was told my pistol had shipped and should be here tomorrow. Interesting thing was that the lady (while looking up my serial #) said "let's see if you got under the wire... we had a problem at the end of last week with one of the parts... Oh, good it looks like yours was the last one to be shipped".
I didn't ask what the problem was in particular, but when looking at the UPS shipping info, it looks like it actually shipped last Thursday two-day... but it won't be here until Wednesday? Go figure. :headscratch
That makes it a day over 3 weeks for total out of pocket time.
My baby came home today with the "mod" stamp. It was packed with a hat and one magazine (which at first I thought had been forgotten, but there it was IN the pistol.) After field stripping I can see a couple of places that have been machined... and I swear it's been fired (I sent it in immaculate shape) but I could be wrong. It came with a printed letter of apology, a completely new (I assume) parts list and exploded view drawing and there was also a little sliver of paper that said:
"We have run into a supply issue with one of our vendors and are currently getting another vendor online to boost the supply of a key part.
We should have this issue resolved in the next few days. We do apologize for the delay in the return of your LCP."
That was kind of nice.

I've dry fired her a few times and I swear the trigger feels completely different. Shorter and much more even (still relatively long, but that's the safety feature, eh?).
All in all I'm very satisfied and pretty happy... but I won't know for sure until I get to the range this weekend. Can't wait! :fire

You get a free magazine when they ship it back :mrgreen: . From some of the posts I am reading, it sounds like the trigger is improved somewhat. That would be an added benefit. You say you don't believe it will go off if dropped but it has happened on a few and apparently they thought it was enough of a risk to incur the high costs of a recall. I would send it back to be safe.

That is rather like saying "I don't beleive it is loaded so I don't need to check it."

It was recalled because it has happened. I think that is a good reason by itself to send it in.

Just don't drop it when I'm around. or anyone else you don't want to kill. When a manufacturer has a recall, it's for a reason. they do not like the publicity, and are definitely covering there posteriors. You should too. try explaining to a jury that you didn't wanna be without it for three weeks, when you knew it had a problem. Get used to your cellmates nightime lovin'.

3.5 weeks later, and it's finally back home in my pocket!!!

It's still has the same great, sharp, crisp, light trigger..... "rlol"

It seems they put in some new internals and shoved a new mag in it. I'll try it out this weekend hopefully.

I got mine back today also. Ruger got my pistol on the 31st. They had to do the recall work, then send it over to service and fix the triger that broke. And got it back to me with a new cap and magazine. I am going to hit the range on Monday Morning and see how it runs.

I signed up the first day or so that it was possible to do so, and after several weeks, received my UPS 'kit' from Ruger. I made the call, UPS picked it up at my house, and returned it five days later, with a decent cap, spare mag, and mag extender. I guess I was luckier than some.

I never considered it to be as big deal as a lot of folks have made it out to be, since I equate dropping a gun with violating any of the other cardinal rules of gun safety. I own, have owned, and will own more guns that cannot be safely dropped, and I don't consider it to be a deal-breaker, as to whether or not to carry the gun...at least, for me, personally. I do, however, think that Ruger is obliged to make their product come up to the safety standards of the industry, and I like that it does have the 'drop' safety, in case somebody else drops theirs.
