Shot my new SA 1911 for the first time today

#1

Post by MoparMuscle »

It's been at least 35 years since I have fired a pistol. I only got to fire 8 rounds because it started to rain. The first couple of shots went pretty close to where I was aiming but after that I couldn't hold the gun still. I don't know if it was adrenaline ( it sure was a lot of fun :woohoo ) or just not used to holding the weight out at arms length.

Any tips or suggestions?

I am sure that not having fired a pistol in 35 years that excitement had a lot to do with not being able to hold it still. Are you shooting one handed or two hand grip? You probably just need some more range time.

Do some dry fire drills...please, be sure it is unloaded and the ammunition is in the other room...I know you know that, but I am very paranoid and check the chamber several times before and during dry fire drills. It can be very helpful to work on your grip and trigger pull. Just be very careful, sorry, I just can't help it.

Shooting with two hands now, will eventually practice with each hand alone. Can't be reminded too much, always assume it's loaded.

I could only get one picture before the camera batteries died.

Very nice!! :clapping:

That beauty should last you a very long time...and your kids. I am a big fan of the 1911 and that is definitely a nice one.

Also, welcome to the forum, we are glad to have you on board. You will find a lot of good folks here and are more than willing to help.
