Both Liberty and I would like to know if this book is filled with "Legalese" or is it written in everyday language?

When I see the bits of legalese often posted here, I generally skip over them. Not because I'm not interested, but because the language it's written in is impenetrable for me.

One of the reviews on Amazon did mention that the book contained some "legalese".

You had better hurry! I ordered a copy on Amazon, and there were only 5 books remaining after I placed my order.

You can read several pages of the book here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/1566637 ... eader-link" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have to say, I bought it to promote the cause. I already knew that the founders meant the right to keep and bear arms was exactly that, with none of the limitations that were added in the 20th century.

:iagree: That was why I bought it, also.

I buy books to read.

Sometimes I buy them as gifts for others who enjoy reading.

How does buying the book help promote the cause?

Are the anti-gun folks going to be influenced in their thinking by the number of folks who buy the book?

Is this the thinking?

If so, aren't they too going to know a number of the books were bought just for that reason?

Anti-gun people can extrapolate too.

Or, am I way off base?

I have every intention of reading the book and, also, Charles asked to help promote the book...
The Independent Institute and other Second Amendment supporters are asking people to mount a second surge and push The Founders’ Second Amendment: Origins of the Rights to Bear Arms to #1 on the Amazon.com list and elsewhere. Let's help these people launch constitutional rights to the top of national book bestseller lists in order to communicate the importance of the Bill of Rights’ Second Amendment for the protection of liberty.

When a book becomes a best-seller, that fact is noted. Influential people think, talk, and write about it. Many people will buy a book simply because it is a best-seller (not so much with non-fiction, but consider what happened with A Brief History of Time). The subject of the book and the reasons for its popularity are elevated in public discussion.

Of course the minds of fanatical opponents of the right to keep and bear arms will not be changed; but perhaps at the margins, millions of people will see the headlines and incorporate Dr. Halbrook's thesis into their vague thinking about the issue.

Jim,

So, in essence, the buzz created by becoming a bestseller will help promote the cause.

O.K.

Let's make it a bestseller.

I'll buy a copy for me and and one as a gift.

When I'm through with mine, I'll pass it along.

Thanks for the insight Jim.

P.S. I read a "A Brief History Of Time" and understood at least 10% of it...

Buzz is exactly the right word. (I don't tend to think in marketing lingo.)

BTW, I failed to respond to one of your points:

Analysts can easily find that this book has been promoted on forums like this one, but the fact that it is purchased by however many thousands of individuals demonstrates the strength of the RKBA movement, just as packed gun shows and sales of firearms did last month.

Sometimes a few parties will purchase large quantities of books. That phenomenon is also noted, and it has ended a couple of political careers. That will not be the case here.

My wife bought this for me when I had to fly to California a few months back. Great book to say the least.

Ordered it today. However, to make #1 this is going to have to be circulated much more aggressively and on just about every gun forum you can find.
