Re: November '08 Applications
You can say that again.
Morgan: What is your time line looking like and your county? If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get the AK for? I am still wanting one but I don't know about shelling out the currently ridiculous 700+ pricetag. I wish local sellers weren't trying to profit so much and would take care of fellow CHL holders.

Re: November '08 Applications
No change from "processing" for me. My time line is in the first post in this thread if you want to see the specific dates. I too am in Denton county... Lewisville, specifically. I paid 500 for my Saiga. I got it at the big gun show at Market Square. The same gun was 700 at a different seller table, so I was on it like white on rice.

Re: November '08 Applications
Well, my and my big mouth...
Just got a letter from Austin today and noticed that it was void of plastic. Upon opening it I found out that they want more info about an "arrest" which wasn't an arrest. I wrote on there that I had been charged with assault by my ex room mate's coke head girlfriend back in 2006 when she charged into my room and started trying to punch me in the face. I calmly shielded my face and left (was headed on a trip to South Carolina). She then called the cops and pressed charges. The Hays County Sheriff told me the only reason I wasn't arrested is because I was out of state at the time that he showed up. After I returned and gave him my written statement, he told me that he'd take it to the DA and let me know if they were going to prosecute it. I never heard from him again.
A quick check with the County Clerk's office showed that I had a totally squeeky clean record before I mailed off my application, and since there was nothing there, I wrote down that I had no papers to send in.
Well, they want a certified criminal history from the County Clerk... as if I didn't sign the thing that said they can go check my background themselves.
So I'll be doing that tomorrow and then mailing it off asap.

Re: November '08 Applications
Ok now this just really stinks. I checked status this morning and mine still says "packet mailed to applicant", then I checked my wife's status and her's says processing application. They received both packets the same day at the same time. I guess it's just my luck, i'm watching status and she is not worried about checking so I guess my punishment is she gets her plastic first.

Re: November '08 Applications
it took about 2 weeks for my status to change. I think you're a little over that 2 weeks, but my understanding is they have 30 days from receipt to start processing.. you're still under that. If it gets to 30+ days without saying "processing" then I'd take some action.

Re: November '08 Applications
I understand they have 30 days, it is just frustrating knowing that they had both packets at exactly the same time and only one shows to be processing. everone talks about Harris county only having one person, I am beginning to think Austin only has one person processing apps as well.

I don't know if I should feel guilty....
My application has changed to - Application Completed - license issued or certificate active!!!!
37 days from the day they received it. Is that a record?

Re: November '08 Applications
10/28 Online App completed
10/30 Class Taken
11/3 Packet received from State
11/3 Packet Mailed to State
11/3 PIN requested and received
11/4 Packet received by State
11/19 Processing Application
12/11 Application Completed - license issued or certificate active
12/13 Plastic Received
39 days from the day they got it, 40 from the day I sent it, depending on how you want to count. I'm stunned I got in that fast, and I really feel for all y'all who are still waiting on far longer periods of time than I did.
I heard they implemented an "automated process" and I wonder if anyone who's been jammed since BEFORE the automated process is stuck with the old method or something... Dunno.

Re: November '08 Applications
Whoo Hoo! My status went from "Packet Mailed" to "Processing Application" today!
Hopefully this puppy will move right along and won't take too long... the only thing I worry about is the small cut I had on one finger that might invalidate my fingerprints and require a redo. (Oh, I certainly hope not! :-))
Applied Online: 11/11/08
Received DPS Packet: 11/17/08
CHL Class (passed): 11/23/08
Completed DPS Packet mailed: 11/24/08
"Processing Application": 12/13

Re: November '08 Applications
Wow, didn't realize there were people working there over the weekend. It could have started processing Friday or something and the status might have changed by automation. That's good though.
