Re: Soccer dad pulls gun on coach's husband - Lubbock
Wow, this thing has gotten so far out of whack. Since we are throwing scenarios around that have absolutely nothing to do with this situation, I might as well throw one in too. What if the guy drawing the gun suspected the soccer coach was in reality a terrorist? The husband was probably trying to get the guy with the gun to shut up before he spilled the beans. Then what? Huh...Huh...what do you think?
Lord folks...i hope most of us use more common sense when drawing our weapons than this guy did. If we don't, we will all be saying adios to our CHL's.
These people were not random strangers on the street. There was nobody else using a gun to shoot people. The guy pulled a gun because he was pushed. We don't know why he was pushed. We don't know if the coaches husband said give it a break and the gunman turned on him with his tongue lashing. We don't even know how the two came to be standing close enough for one to push the other. Did mister gun toter make a threatening move or not? We don't know.

Granted we do not know anything other then a skectchy news story.
My point was there is a great deal we do not know, so I chose not to pass judgement.
I will say one thing I thing most will agree with.
There is a lesson here, that many of us already know.
Life is a "life or death situation".
Ever since folks were chased by a saber tooth tiger.
You never know when something can happen.
Did Burke think he would need (from his perspective at the time) to draw his weapon when he woke up that morning?
Did soccer coach husband think today was the day he would be staring down the barrel of a pistol from the unfriendly side?
Did prison guard think he would be disarming a person at a soccer game?
Did soccer coach think she was going to lose her husband becasue of coaching a kid's soccer team?
So be prepared, do not escalate (if possible, of course), have an escape plan and know that there are times when things could go very bad unless you use your head. You never know who or what you are dealing with any given day or activity.
Be safe, still want to know how this turns out.
First I heard of the terrosrist thing, but anything is possible.

That said, the 25 yr. old gun puller (Dad?) should have his CHL revoked and possibly face charges for assault with a deadly weapon. The coach and her husband should find something else to do on the weekends and the rest of y'all should "get a grip".
Being a coach of youth sports is something we do because we think we can do it, better for our own kid/s /b], than someone else. It is not a popularity or Miss Congenialty contest. Been there, done that - without guns or fisticuffs!

No one has said anything in the past two (2) weeks to change my mind. Enough already...please?

Id like this thread to stay open to hear the finalized results.

I would, as well. Some folks seem determined to keep speculating, though.flb_78 wrote:Id like this thread to stay open to hear the finalized results.

this is amazing...this thread has gotten way out of hand. I just got back from a three week business trip to Maryland and the only thing that has changed on this thread is the 'what if' scenarios. we could throw anything in here...what if a leprechaun snuck up and shoved the husband and he started to fall over and he braced himself on the dad and thats what the dad thought was a push? let it go...just post any updates to the case!

That's just it, without any more details even the leprachaun scenario it plausible...just ask the folks in Mobile.

As the OP this post has well run its course.
Lock it.
As far as new information picture a old western movie with desolate streets and tumbleweeds blowing across the screen.
There just isn't any thing out there but I'll keep looking and listening.
If something comes up I'll start a new thread.

Thanks troggy - I was waiting/watching for your replies but it was getting very difficult amidst all of this riff raff going on in here. Do post a NEW thread if you ever see the tumbleweed stop and the truth come to surface.
Thanks!
