Re: Rugers... why not more popular?
All this Ruger talk got me curious, so when I saw a good/reasonable/alright price on a "new to me" gun at Bob's I pulled the trigger. I'll let y'all know my thoughts on it once they get it to me.

Re: Rugers... why not more popular?
I've had a Ruger p-95 w/ de-cocker for a few years and love it. I would guess 2000 or more rounds through it and never a jam. It may not be the best looking gun in the rack but it's very dependable.
Re: Rugers... why not more popular?
Even with the recalls on my P85 & now my LCP, I really like my Rugers. So far I've owned a Security-Six, mini-14, 10-22, P85, Vaquero, & LCP.
Strange though, I traded or sold all but the Vaquero & LCP???

Re: Rugers... why not more popular?
Ok, my Ruger KP90 came into local FFL dealer yesterday. I picked her up, took her home, and stripped her down. Good looking gun, and for a used weapon it looked brand spanking new. Buds shipped it with all original packaging and a spent casing dated March 2007. So it looks as though the original owner put very few rounds through it. I made it over to Clear Creek Gun Range this morning. It needs some sight work. On the 7yd targets I had to aim 8 inches above center to get it anywhere near center target. I also had a couple FTE's and one FTF. However, I think that was the Blazer Brass ammo more than the weapon. My Colt Commander was having the same problems this morning as well. I need to spend an extra buck and stick to Winchester White box...

Re: Rugers... why not more popular?
Ruger is great- my very first pistol was a 22/45 (still have it too), given to me on my 16th b'day by my dad. I've had many Ruger pistols and rifles, and may purchase a Red Label soon if someone stops dangling those cheaper Turkish O/U's in my face... Long story short, I've NEVER been unhappy with ANY Ruger firearm I have EVER shot or owned. Their pistols with the LCP, 345, and revolvers excepted are big and blocky, and my P89 not very accurate shooting only 6" off the bench w/ Golden Saber @ 25 yds, but it is 100% reliable even with the crappy promag magazine. I used to have a No. 1 (want one again too), it was my favorite praire dog rifle (.22-250 baby!). I don't like the 10-22 but that's just my own weirdness. You can't go wrong with Ruger, I just like my Glocks for carry and the J frame or it's Taurus Model 85 cousin. I purchased a P345 a couple days ago, it's my first .45, I'll be testing it and evaluating it for possible acceptance into my collection...I just finished a complete disassembly and cleaning, and it's by far one of the best engineered weapons I have ever seen. I hope the reliability and accuracy is on par with the engineering and my first impressions. I am I worried? Nope. Just want to make sure. Am I a Ruger fan? Guilty as charged.
Glock 19 Gen4 EDC, Glock 42 (golf gun), AR15 14.5" Midlength (nightstand gun), Browning Buckmark (fun gun)

I've had no issues whatsoever with mine. Several hundred rounds though it, and not one failure. It fit my need for a pocket gun perfectly - it's incredibly easy to conceal and reliable. My only gripe is the looong trigger pull required to operate the trigger. Considering it's a pocket gun that is meant to be carried in all kinds of crazy places, I don't blame Ruger for making the trigger that way. I can still put rapid-fire shots downrange with reasonable accuracy, and that's all I need.

Re: Rugers... why not more popular?
Except for my GLOCK 17, I have basically without realizing it, become a Ruger man. I have a P95 and I absolutely love it. Very accurate. (I have an 11 year old son who cannot miss a target with it.) I'ts a liitle bulky for carry though and holster otions, as mentioned before are just not there. I carry a GP-100 and I am quite happy with the toughness of Rugers. I like the analogy that someone stated comparing them to the Camry's of the world..Spot on deducement!

I have gone a round the world of gun trading in the last few weeks. And every time I start talking about guns with who ever I am trading always asks what I carry and I tell them I religiously carry my P345. EVERYWHERE

So you wouldn't see a problem with it if Thompson Center supported legislation restricting us all to single-shot handguns?srothstein wrote:A lot of people reacted as you would think when they thought he was cooperating with the anti's. IMHO, he was using the anti's for marketing reasons more thna cooperating. A 15 round limit would really have hurt Glock as his competition. But there are still people who resent his attitude and decline to purchase the guns.

I was not really commenting right or wrongly on it, just explaining what he did and why as I saw it. I disagree with the limit and with his using the anti's that way, but it really was not cooperating so much as using. And the bill that was passed did not have his support at all.
