I just got my PIN. Exactly one month from when I received my confirmation of receipt.

Hopefully I should receive my license within the next month!

For all those who are waiting over 60 days, I figured out why the process is so slow............DPS is too busy sending me an additional license. I received my initial license in the mail about 2 weeks ago, today I received another one in the mail. Anyone know if this is standard practice, or is this just a mistake? :???: Either way, I guess I have a backup if I lose one.

Hope all you guys who are waiting gets yours soon! I know waiting is not that much fun.

Argh... Well send me your x-tra one and I'll drop them a note that I am good. LMAO..... At any rate at least they seem to be working hard... Congrats on all both of them! :)

To add to the misery:

CHL class taken and passed the first time (100% written, 250 range, but never sent in paperwork): Sept. 07, 1996

Prepaid DPS fee and reinitiated application process (Yes, nearly 10 years later): March 27, 2006

CHL class taken and passed the second time (100% written, 246 range: I guess I'm slipping in my old age): April 09, 2006

PIN received via preprinted application: April 22, 2006

Submitted application package, which was signed for by DPS representative: April 27, 2006

Certified return receipt received: April 29, 2006

DPS web site still reflects "Packet Mailed to Applicant" as of: May 14, 2006

The entire process is ridiculous. I fully understand that bureaucracies do pretty much what they want to do and when they want to do it, but after reading through this entire thread, it appears that the Texas DPS seems to be trying to set new standards of inefficiencies. Changing this type of arrogant behavior requires that you contact your state representative and senator, which I have.

I sent in my packet March 13. It was signed for March 15th @ 10:44 am. The Internet link says that my application is complete, license issued on May 12th. That's 57 calendar days. I guess it is in the mail though as it hasn't come in the mail yet.

u075908, you give us hope and despair. My packet was received March 7 and is still "processing" I have lived in the same house for 26 yrs and never had any cause to slow up any background check.

I think there was a bubble in there from about Feb 25-March 10 when everyone went on spring break and got behind. :???:

Another way to count days in Waiting Room!

#549

Post by Skipper5 »

From and including: Thursday, March 23, 2006 (Packet Received in AUS)
To and including: Monday, May 15, 2006 (Including Today)

It is 54 days from the start date to the end date, end date included

Or 1 month, 23 days including the end date

Alternative time units
54 days can be converted to one of these units:
4,665,600 seconds
77,760 minutes
1296 hours
7 weeks (rounded down)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Compliments of http://www.timeanddate.com (a fun and great site!!)

DPS originally received my app 63 days ago. Because I forgot to sign my TR-100, they sent it back to me to be signed and returned. The received the signed TR-100 back 13 days ago. The application tracking site still shows my app as "Application incomplete - information missing. Detailed letter sent."

How long should I wait before e-mailing to ask what's going on? Or should I call? Or am I just too d@$# impatient? (I hate waiting!)

I called DPS today, apparently the 2nd license was because my weight on the first one was listed incorrectly. So, from the time I received the 1st to the time the 2nd one was received I lost 10lbs. I wish it was really that easy to lose 10lbs. in 2 weeks.

Again, hope all of yall get your licenses soon. Skipper5, I charge a small fee, but if need be I'll call DPS for you to speed up the process.

I'm in, do your magic. Send me a bill. I am sure you'll be fair. I am extremely tired of waiting.... in fact I was tired of waiting before I ever applied. I actually have no patience what so ever and refuse to learn even how to spell it. My 2nd ex-wife tired to teach me patience and thus expains the ex part...... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

LOL....Diode....you got me laughing...falling on the floor...
I know what u mean....feeling same...why went to the range yesterday,
doubled my normal practice rounds and feel better today.

Yeah...maybe we'll set up a company for RedRaider...he can make his magic phone calls to AUS and then get two...not one ...but two CHL's and loose 10 pounds to boot! The David Blaine magic card tricks man!

//Hang in there pal!

//John
P.S. Has anyone found Diode's 'patience' anywhere??
