Guns and cruise ships

Anyone have information or can help me find policies on taking a gun on a cruise ship. I'll be taking a short cruise out of TX to Cozumel on Carnival and just wondered about taking the gun. I know not off the ship to Mexico. Then I'll be taking another in July which will require me to fly from here to Vancouver then take a Princess line ship to several stops in Alaska, which I'll fly from Anchorage back to DWF. Anyway just wondering.

Nope - no guns/weapons. HSA/TSA scans luggage and you pass through metal detectors.

Item 4(f) of the Carnival Ticket Contract:

(f) Weapons, firearms, ammunitions, explosives, incendiary devices, or other dangerous goods are strictly prohibited aboard the vessel. The Guest warrants that no such articles are contained in any receptacle or container carried or presented by him as baggage. Carnival may deny boarding to any Guest traveling with any weapons, firearms, ammunitions, explosives, incendiary devices, or other dangerous goods and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued. Carnival will confiscate and turn over to the appropriate governmental authorities any of the above articles found on the Guest or his baggage. The Guest will be solely responsible for any and all damage and/or loss caused by his violation of this policy.

The last time Mrs. Oldgringo and I took a cruise (out of Galveston), we had to go through an electronic gauntlet similar to the airport and our luggae was x-rayed. They wouldn't even let us take our own 'hooch' aboard. That was 4 years ago and this is today?

I wouldn't even think about taking a handgun into Canada unless it was one you didn't want.

That is correct also - can't take booze onboard. However, you would be amazed at how big they make those Listerine bottles these days...

They even 'hold' booze you buy on the ship or in ports until you leave the ship at your debarkation station. Got my fill of cuban cigars though and smoked the last one entering Galveston channel. My orthopedic doc says they don't even bother to take them away from you anymore if it is only a box or less. Not sure I want to test that yet...

Thats how we did it in the Navy...Amazing the color similarity to Jack Daniels (Black Label)...

RCL promoted the sale of adult beverages in their store - so the sign says. If you wanted to take it to your room they add a "50% corkage fee". This is clearly a ploy to force the passengers to drink in the lounges at inflated prices with tips. We never saw this (you name it) $ grab on NCL or Holland American lines.

And Galliano and Strega both look a lot like the original listerene, so that's what was in my locker at GMA School in GLakes. You should have seen the look on my roomie's face one night when he snuck a slug of my "mouthwash" as he headed out for the evening.

I wrote to Carnival about why they were not posted 30.06 in accordance with Texas law and they wrote back that they didn't have to comply with Texas law, they were governed by international maritime law which dictates that civilian vessels may not be armed.

On a funnier note pertaining to knives, my wife and I had been ashore in Cozumel doing some diving things, and of course the obligatory stop at Senor Frog's. As we returned to the ship we had to pass through the metal detector. I had a big silver bracelet on, a tin of Altoids in my bathing suit pocket, and a SOG Flash clipped on my pocket. We also had a pretty good buzz on.

My wife passed through the detector without a peep, but it went off big time for me. I went back and took off the bracelet and set it off again, so I went back and took the Altoids out of my pocket, and set the thing off for a third time, at which point the operators just waved me through since I was holding up the line, as my wife shouted, gleefully - "Honey, maybe it's your knife?"

I've still got the knife.

Bringing alchohol onboard, last time we went we were allowed one bottle each passenger of champagne to bring onboard. So we took 2 magnums of champagne with us, no problem.

You can bring one bottle of champagne or wine aboard per person. Not the real stuff like Bushmill's or Makers Mark!!

I think they are liars. Unless fishing boats aren't concidered civilian vessels..
The truth is it is illegal to have arms at most of the Ports.
