I am a new guy here. First I would like to say this has been a great place to get info on CHLs. I was hoping some of the people who got their chls back so soon could post what countries they live in. I am in Harris so Ike has slowed us down. Thanks!

Guns Make Me Happy...we are about on the same time-line, and I understand the frustration that you are feeling right now. Hopefully they will get their butts in gear concerning our applications....I'm about to call Austin in a few to get my status :mad5 . Good Luck.

I just spoke to Valentina over at DPS, and she said that she had my CHL plastic in her hand, but couldn't mail it because of Harris County stalling on my BC. It makes me happy that it's only one more thing, but also angers me a little that I'm on day 80 basically since mailing it overnight. Oh well.

I have lived in Angelina County for my entire 21 years of existance. Took DPS 62 days to complete my application with no criminal background at all, not even a speeding ticket ;-)

nils- I am not worried about the wait right now. I just read about how some of these folks have been waiting for months to get their plastic in the mail. I will be happy if I get mine before the end of the year. It would be to have it in the mail box tomorrow. I"ll just reading the forum and being happy for the people that get one in less then six months! ;-)

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just checked my CHL application on-line for the 500 millionth time and got the dreaded "PROCESSING APPLICATION"

THEN!!!

I checked my girlfriends application and got "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

So she got hers in 42 days.... I guess she's going to have to be protecting me for a while till mine comes in.

I spoke to my DPS person today as well and she said all she is waiting on is the license to come in. She was going to look through the stack after we talked. I told her that I would come down and help her! I did tell her that I really appreciate her, and her co-worker's efforts to get our licenses to us and she told me that made her day. We just have to remember when we talk to the DPS folks that the delays aren't their fault, and to be appreciative of their efforts.

Hello all. DPS received my package on the 9th of Aug. As I wait and think, I have a question I hope someone here can answer for me. I'm in the military and when I fill out my background info I've lived in multiple places the past few years.
California :blowup
Kentucky :cryin
Texas :txflag:
North Carolina :clapping:
Kansas (No smiley Icon for COLD!)
Iraq :patriot:
Kansas (Still no Icon for WAY TOO COLD!)
Missouri :fire
Texas :txflag:
Is this going to slow me down? Are they going to contact the local PD from each area and run a check on me? I understand that Texas does their own back ground checks but I have a DOD security clearance already and it seems a little pointless to me. I guess I'm just getting frustrated from the wait. :banghead:

I wonder what the DPS site showed for your status when the license actually arrived---I mean, did the status actually change beforehand so you knew it was completed?

Our apps still the same status: "Processing Application"

I think that maybe for those of us in Harris County, it's going to be a long Fall. See, although Harris County probably has more applications to process, Harris County also has more tax dollars at work, so that Harris County can afford to utilize state of the art equipment and personnel to do the business that we pay them to do. That is why it will take us folks in Harris County longer to get processed than those in other counties. Bigger county means bigger tax base, means bigger boreauocracy (sp.). No, I'm not bitter......................................
CHL Class - August 2
DPS Receives - August 11

November 12......Processing App
