Any my reply is... "There's no such thing as a perfectly good airplane!"

Thanks for the replies everyone. It was a very proud day.
"Officially" blood wings are not allowed... but we'll just leave it at that. ;-)
Blood wings are against Armed Forces Policy and are prohibited...

Yes, yes... we were warned that such a thing was Strictly Forbidden, and that we were Absolutely Not Allowed to request it.

So when the school commandant, LTC Leonard B. Scott ("Charlie Mike" hisownself), pinned on our wings, he didn't give us "blood wings". He did, however, offer hearty congratulations in the form of a manly slap on the chest.

The puncture wounds were entirely coincidental. ;-)

Edited for spelling. The spelling police are watching!
I didn't...they were Air Force planes.

The military is not what it used to be.

I can still feel the indents where my dolphins were tacked on. The first qualified submariner to tack them on was a second class engineman turned machinist mate who lived by "diesel boats forever". When I was qualifying he warned me he would be waitng to nail me. He put in a wake-up call when the CO pinned my fish on.

The CO did give me time to pull off the keepers and bend the pins in before he opened the door.
