Try this one...can't recall where I picked this up, but someone, somewhere put together a nice spreadsheet for this. Fill in your costs, and it will calculate a payback period, cost per batch, cost per round, etc.DeterminednTX wrote:... Can someone give me an estimate, considering the amount I shoot and the calibers, of when I might break even on my investment?
At what point will I break even?

Re: At what point will I break even?
Started Reloading a few months ago, startup costs were about $550.00 already had the brass. This was for 9mm. No money saved..none. We actually spend more on supplies then we did on bullets. But I do notice the hubby loves it and it makes him happy. Plus I dont have to run to wal mart when I want to go shoot just tell the hubby and he makes me some. I do like the customized loads a lot more.
We started with 9mm and will be moving into 45 by the end of the year so for us no many wasted. We figure when we start with 45 we will break even really fast.
Cheapest deals locally have been at Cabela's and the dallas market hall gun show.

Don't forget the valve adjustments every 6K if it's a V-Twin and the ridiculous cost of an oil change every 3K. Heh.flb_78 wrote:It's like buying a motorcycle to save on gas. If you like it, then you'll ride it more and end up spending more on gas and tires.
