XS sights?
I need a good set of defensive sights to compensate for my one bad eye(got lazy eye).A buddy of mine is a sheriff and he recomended defensive sights(xs big dot sighting system). The only problem is hes only had them on his M&P for 3 months.I went online and did as much research as possible and I liked what I seen. Except 1 guy on google claimed he bought a set for his Sig and the rear sight kept losing its trtium glo(apparently leaking the hydrogen liquid inside).Know he claimed the company replaced them 3 times within 1 year.Obviously this concerned me due to the price, health hazards, and inconvinience of changing sights constantly. Does anyone have them? If so please give me your story.I am in need of good advice. I plan on putting them on a glock 26 if there worth the price.Someone give me a solution please!!!!!!!!!

Re: XS sights?
Three tritium vial failures for the same user sounds awfully suspicious. If the guy on google is installing the XS sights on his own with a hammer and punch instead of a professional sight pusher tool, it's quite likely that his installation method is causing the problem rather than any issue with the sights themselves. I wouldn't let one negative post sink an otherwise good product. There's always somebody out there that can screw up anything.CCW Backer wrote:I need a good set of defensive sights to compensate for my one bad eye(got lazy eye).A buddy of mine is a sheriff and he recomended defensive sights(xs big dot sighting system). The only problem is hes only had them on his M&P for 3 months.I went online and did as much research as possible and I liked what I seen. There's a new sighting system from Speed Sights that you may want to check out as well. It is not self luminous, but it's a good deal less expensive than the XS system. It's currently available only for Glocks, but you're in luck there. I only recently became aware of it haven't used it myself, but the initial write ups look promising. There's a detailed article on them in the September/October issue of American Handgunner Magazine (available at Wally World) if you'd like to see more info on it.

Re: XS sights?
When my TFO's die, I will replace them with the XS 24/7 sights. I love the XS system.

Theres your answer.
I have the big dot sights on three different pistols and have never had a problem.
I have been using them since they first came out (Ashley Big Dot)...and like them very much (for my purposes).

Re: XS sights?
The positives:
Very fast sight acquisition when used at close quarter combat distances. Just"dot the i" and you're on target.
The negatives:
May not be the best for long range or target shooting due to the size of the front sight, although there is a video going around the internet of an instructor making accurate 100 yard shots with XS sights.
They are also among the most expensive night sights on the market. They can be found online, however for abut $100 if you shop carefully.
I have had a set on a Springfield XD for about a year now. They work great with my 56 year old eyes. I plan on having a set installed on my 1911 in the very near future.

Re: XS sights?
I just put a set on my Glock 33, haven't even had time to shoot with them. It was a very easy "Do it yourself project", I didn't even need a very big hammer! SX Sight systems website has a "How to" video: http://xssights.com/install.html
I like the looks of the sight picture.
I got mine from MidwayUSA, $109.97 plus $3.37 for USPS shipping. Watch the shipping charge!! Natchez Shooters Supply had the sights on sale for $99.95, BUT, the shipping was almost $15.00.
Regards, OE

Re: XS sights?
I’m not really that fond of the rear sight that comes with the XS set, so I elected to keep my “Tru-Dot” rear sight and just widen the slot.
My main interest in the Big-Dot/XS set was for the more prominent front sight. When shooting quickly…my rear sight is basically a ghost picture anyway, but the large front sight is easily seen.
Oddly, the front sight seems even more noticeable in low light conditions where a flashlight is used, you can’t help but see it then.
