The fatal shooting of an aggravated robbery suspect in the 1200 block of Canterlane about 3:30 a.m. today will be referred to a Harris County grand jury, Houston police said.
The identity of the deceased suspect, who had been shot in the stomach, is pending notification of next of kin.
The robbery victim is identified as Derriun Raney, 26. He suffered a cut on his head.
Police said the suspect, dressed in black and wearing socks on his hands, knocked on the front door of Raney's residence. Raney, who had been asleep inside, opened the door with a pistol in his hand. He said he was repeatedly struck in the head with a tire iron by the suspect.
He then fired several shots at the suspect striking him in the abdomen, police said. The suspect fell to the ground and died on the front yard, police said.
Witnesses told police that the suspect intended to rob Raney."

It seems that the shooters in Houston are suggesting criminals to try something more white collar? I don't think I would want to rob someone after reading the stories over the last couple of months. People are not allowing the negative part of society to scare and control them.

Unfortunately, Criminals don't read and they certainly aren't going to hear any warnings from their deceased cohorts.jbirds1210 wrote:It seems that the shooters in Houston are suggesting criminals to try something more white collar? They'll just keep on doing what they do and we have to stay aware at all times.

My Great Dane is always the first to answer my door... and after hearing her bark, strangers are usually a little more comfortable with the door closed.

Just because someone knocks on your door at 3am doesn't mean they are a threat.
I had an elderly neighbor knock on my door because her husband was having a heart attack at nearly 4am.
A county sheriff's deputy knocked on my door just after 1 am because he caught some kids stealing hubcaps in the area and noticed a car in my driveway with missing hubcaps.
I will not ignore a knock or a doorbell regardless of what time it is. I will however be prepared for whatever may be on the other side of the door and will not open until I have determined who it is and their purpose.

I had a similar about 2 years ago. They were looking for the house next door, which we later found out to be manufacturing/dealing drugs. So, I'm glad to have made a firm impression on them with the TWO GSD's and .40, they have since moved.txinvestigator wrote:The last time I had an after dark knock it was me, the GSD and the M1 Carbine at the door.TxFire wrote:Dittto, My two German Shepherds beat me to the door everytime.
