Friendswood, La Porte Missouri City, League City and Sugar Land had the lowest property crime rate.
But police say no matter where you live, you should take the same commonsense precautions against crime. Officers say those who think their city is immune from crime is not only a myth, it can make you an easier target."

Thought it was interesting that League City, with the most CHLs per zip code in Texas, has the lowest violent crime rate in the Houston area.

You know what I have always wondered, but have always known anyway...
But what really is a commonsense precaution???
Everytime I have ever heard the term "commonsense", it was used in conjunction with gun-control...
Glad to know Sagemont is smack dab in the middle of these low-crime areas...Doesn't mean we're free of the occasional dunder-head to roam through and do something stupid...

Well in my mind commonsense precautions are situational awarness, along with at least one gun, reloads, and prefferablly some armed friends.stevie_d_64 wrote:But what really is a commonsense precaution???

I'm not sure that that is what they had in mind!

Of course not...Their utopia is a community filled with "Brinks" home security systems and lightning fast responses by law enforcement, who are obviously seconds away, to fight off the bad guys while they are still there in your home...Paladin wrote:Well in my mind commonsense precautions are situational awarness, along with at least one gun, reloads, and prefferablly some armed friends.stevie_d_64 wrote:But what really is a commonsense precaution???

I love those commercials...
And I agree, its good to have friends...And ones that are armed are even better...

What's funny... A few years ago, League City had the largest number of CHL Apps per capita (I believe it was pc)!!
My Uncle lives there and he was surprised by that fact too.

Re: Which Houston-Area Cities Have Highest, Lowest Crime Rates?
It was reported that the murder rate went up 300% in Houston's Northwest corridor after the "Katrina boat lift". The interesting and somewhat sad thing was that the New Orleaners were mostly killing each other.
My LEO friends tell me that there is quite a bit more organized crime now with the Houston/New Orleans connection happening. I'm sure other Texas cities that opened the doors for evacuees have the same problems.
At one time during the early stages post Katrina, Houston was 2nd only to Philadelphia in the murder rate per capita. I'm not sure how the murder rate fairs now. The city is usually not to keen on giving out these types of statistics and I'm surprised this was reported.
