#1

Post by Woody »

Does anyone know of a ONE day, weekday CHL class in Houston? Or two half days....most importantly in needs to be during the week. I live on the north side but I'm willing to drive.

Thanks,
Chris

Woody,
You could call 59 Gun Range @ 281-449-6063 or you could call Hot Wells Shooting Range @ 281-373-0232. I have seen classes or private instruction going on at both ranges in the past on weekday mornings. I don't know any details, I just noticed CHL training going on when I stopped by to shoot.
I hope this will help.

Guardian Defensive offers one day Concealed Handgun License course.www.guardiandefensive.com. I took the course from Donovan Lamar. He is very knowledgeable and makes the class fun. I will definitely go back to Guardian Defensive when I need to renew!

I took my CHL from a one-day, weekday shop in Houston. I wouldn't necessarily recommend him to anyone. He did 'OK' - covered the basics. But from hearing about other classes, I don't get the sense that it was as complete as others have experienced. He was a really nice guy, but the presentation left something to be desired - sort of disorganized and random ...

The folks at http://www.chlnow.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; offer one day CHL classes seven days a week. They're at I-10 and Hwy 6.

Shiloh Shooting Range occasionally has one-day classes on weekdays. Website advertised one last Wednesday and there is one tomorrow as well.

From what I gather, they have different instructors come on different days. I took mine there on a Saturday. My instructor was former LEO and said Shiloh only hires CHL instructors with LEO experience (former or current). It was a good class...I mean it was the only one I've ever taken, so I can't really compare it to anything other than the "bad" experience stories of others.

$125 was all inclusive. Passport photos, fingerprints, paperwork, notary, etc. All you do is cut the check paid to the DPS and mail it off.

I think mine at Shiloh was one day. My instructor was a Deputy Sheriff that I believe teaches/taught at the Academy. He was great.

I'll bet Woody has already found a place and possibly on his first
renewal by now since this thread is over 5 years old.

Still good info for anyone who is currently looking though. ;-)

It does seem a little strange that the person who bumped the thread did it with their first and only post.
When in doubt
Vote them out!

This a first...for me anyway. Not goofing on anyone that responded, just tickled my funnybone.
