YouTube and other Video Links
Some videos can have significant educational value, while others are just plain funny. Some videos have profanity in them and our "policy" is for the poster to include a language warning when posting links to such videos. This way people know what to expect. However, please don't think posing a language warning means "anything goes!" We will evaluate a video to see if the educational value is outweighed by the vulgar language. (This sounds familiar to the attorneys on the forum.) Yes, that will be a judgment call, but it will be made by a majority vote of the Moderators. Obviously, videos that are simply funny will have no educational value, so please limit the funny ones to clean ones.
Comments to YouTube videos are another matter. When a post is made containing a video link, there may be no comments with profanity so the poster has no reason to post a language warning. Such comments could later be added, but we don't expect the poster to periodically review it to check for problems. Nor are the Moderators doing to do so, after the video is first reviewed. So when it comes to comments on videos, please understand that we have no control over them and there is no reasonable way we can keep checking video comments. The only alternative would be to prohibit video links, but we're not about to do that.

Re: YouTube and other Video Links
Is it possible to make it where instead of linking to a Youtube video or something, that we would be able to imbed it into our post? I know that most videos on Youtube already give the imbed link next to the actual video.

I don't know if it can be done with an iframe tag or not. I thought YouTube embed code used to have the iframe tag, but they don't now. I'll see if this can be done.

Re: YouTube and other Video Links
Youtube uses the object tag for embedding videos. If you allow object tags then we'd be all set, but that would introduce security problems.
But if you could allow object tags but limit the param to youtube and similar sites, then we'd be all set, I should think.

Re: YouTube and other Video Links
I learned that phpBB Ver. 3.0 has a provision for custome BBcode that's very easy to use. I've set it up for YouTube, but I'm having trouble with Google videos. I'll post instructions for embedding YouTube videos as a Sticky in this Section.
