Why 24-7

Why do you have to carry that gun every where you go? I know some of you have that ? asked by family or friends. I don't hear it at my house & am thankful. Wife & Mother both have theirs. Why? Jan. 2004 I started gathering news articles of major crime in Lufkin area. Criteria had to be that it took place in a business or at a place I go at a time that I have been there or would be there. Times when Law abiding Citizens are out & about & in places good law abiding people go. This precluded the 2:00 am armed robery of the corner Stop & Rob w/ one employee. At present one every 4 months major crime & all have been a gunpoint has taken place at a place I go & at a time I go there. Last one was Wed evening. We were headed home from church & 2 sets of strobes ahead of us quit a ways. 8:15 Headed home from church & convenience store on main highway robbed at gunpoint. This is a regular fuel stop & occasional gateraid in the summer. We were less than 5 min from passing as the get away car left. These incidents have been Bank robberies, mad former employee w/ gun in place of business, armed roberies, & a meth head heavily armed, running from LEO, & almost getting into a General $ store less than 1/2 mile from us that we use as our main convenience store for milk, bread, etc, everything but gas. I do not believe this track record is as unusual as a few have thought. I believe the general public walks around in Condition White & w/ a memory about as long the hair on their pet frog. Anyone else keep records to hand out to those that will ask why you carry 24-7 or just give them the seat belt answer. I show the folder & folks say, yes I go there too & I remember. Then they go back to condition white & activate that short memory & go about their business of paying bills but not attention to surroundings.

My fiancee asked me the same question. I left the TV news on one night. (I usually turn it off becuase it's utter garbage)
After seeing a story about a body washing up near the lake where she works, a shooting by where I work, a kidnapping near the school where she works, and a robbery near where I work, she stopped asking that question.

I still need to get her to take the CHL class. I think I have her 75% convinced, but like most women, I have to make her think it was her idea before she'll actually go  :o

Thought so. I bet we get a lot of the same answers. You are in the big city & I am in the small town. The above store was in Diboll where our church is. 5,000 pop. 3 lights. No barber shop. One parts house....

You don't leave the house without shoes on do you? Of course not. What if you stepped on a piece of broken glass?

Pistol packin' is the same as wearing shoes. It can protect you from potentially hazardous encounters. ;-)

I shopped in that store a couple of weeks ago, I was teaching a class in Groveton and the nearest accomodations were either Diboll (that new Best Western), Livingston, or Crockett. I was carrying when I was there, of course.
Real gun control, carrying 24/7/365

This is a serious question that I have given much thought to. I believe 2 factors entered into my decision. 1: I fought a real battle with B. Cancer which caused me to realize I too can be a number in a statistic. Before this my focus was on my family and I put my own care and safety at the bottom of my priority list. With my Lord's help and leading I worked hard to maintain my health and I feel STRONGLY that no BG is going to take it away from me. 2: My Boys are growing up and out of the house. My husband (who watches over me better than I do) always wanted one of the boys or himself with me when I leave the house if possible. Now we are both more confortable with me being out alone when running errands.
