Most of the responses I have gotten from email are scripted. My frustration comes from the fact that the applications do not appear to be getting processed in the order they are received. I am sitting at more than 60 days and have not even been entered in the system while I watch folks who put applications in after I did receiving plastic. Something is seriously off down there that goes way beyond number of applications received. I truly believe they are using the applications received as nothing more than an excuse for a generally broken system. The finger should be pointing at the person in charge down there. Blaming politicians only serves to excuse a lack of job performance of the department handling our applications. The solution is in bringing in management personal that can organize and task manage properly.

Personally, I do not blame any politicians. But I do expect them to work to remedy the problem ASAP. I think, the more complaints they get, the higher the likelyhood that need to get something done/fixed.

Has anyone called them and told them that the LAW says 60 days? You're application might be pushed to the bottom of the pile, but it would be funny to hear the reaction.

Didn't call them and say it, but said it in an email. Yep...your right...my application hasn't seen daylight since.

1/19/08 Completed the online application process and paid by Credit Card
1/24/08 DPS Mailed my app
1/26/08 I received app at my house
3/15/08 Took the class at Reds South in Austin
3/17/08 Hand carried the paperwork to DPS (I just work 2 block from there)
***Sorry did't log when online changed to "packet received" and "processing applicaton" but it was several weeks****
5/31/08 Status Changed to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

Mine was a clean app - meaning to say no past record and I didn't have to go back and submit any extra documents.

I never called DPS to check on my status either. Just watched my status online.

I believe it was on about day 75 after hand delivering the packet that the online status changed to "Application Completed - License issued or certificate active"

Today is Saturday - Guess I'll be camping out next to the mailbox today....
Well it's Tuesday evening now, :grumble and still no plastic :grumble . Status had changed Saturday to "Completed"...
So I guess I'll be sitting here yet another day......
Sweltering since my A/C here at home died on Friday and :mad5 I'm still waiting for the A/C guy :mad5 ....
Plastic 6/4/08
CZ 75B .40
CZ 2075 Rami .40
Ruger .41 Blackhawk
etc...
etc...

I keep hearing a 40% increase in applications. Ok, I'm not a math major but lets assume before the 40% increase excuse they took the entire 60 days to process. A 40% increase in time is then 84 days. Why then does it take 120 days or longer?

I'm moving up in the world. No, not the plastic in the mail or even the "Application complete", just the words "Processing Application".

Hey, when you hit day 89 and it still says "Packet mailed", every little step is wonderful.
