"New Venue" Guns Show(s) in Denton

#1

Post by Greybeard »

Some folks at the range said they'd made a gun show in Denton a while back. In researching further, I noticed 3 more set for this year - by the same promoter as Big Town. Anyone here make the last one (at Old K-Mart building on 380) ? Know about April 22/23?

I went to the first one, the old K-Mart on 380, I couldn't believe the size of the crowd. The old K-Mart parking lod was full, the old Toyota dealer next door was full, part of Albertson's across the street was taken and everyone was parted on the grass everywhere. There was a ~10 minute wait in line to get in all day....Lot of fun and a lot of deals to be had..
It's close enough to me where I'll be attending them all. Denton and Market Hall will be the two big shows I'll go to all year....

"I couldn't believe the size of the crowd."

That's what I like to hear. I'm now contemplating getting a table for the April show - to maybe pick up some new people and see how many I recognize.

Did such years ago at Market Hall, but not near as high a percentage of "locals". And hey, it sounds like the Denton show is set up not far from much, much better "fast food". Catfish King just east a few blocks.

One Time Frisco Gun Show

Post by jbenat »

The first gun show we ever attented was the one & only show here in Frisco, Tx. We wound up buying a Walther PPK/S 380 for my wife for about $408.00 NIB. Pretty good price, I think. Probably the PC crowd has stopped gun shows here in Frisco because they say there are none scheduled in the future. We did go to the Denton show a short time ago & wife bought a pager holster. Our schedule is pretty busy but hope to get to the next show either at Mesquite or Denton. I gotta be careful about gun shows. I'm getting gun poor!

The reason there won't be anymore shows at that Frisco hotel is because one of the dealers had an ND on the first day. Fired a round from his personal Glock into the floor. Nobody got hurt but that's the end of that venue.

"one of the dealers had an ND on the first day"

Whoa! A tough way to get "uninvited" - forever! Unfortunately, statistics indicate that such is more common with dealers than attendees. The old "that-does-not-apply-to-me" syndrome.

Hello. Yes, I was there and it was truly a big crowd. I'll be making the Denton shows in addition to the Dallas ones when I can.

Best.

i've been waiting on another show at frisco, but i guess that's the end of that. that was one of the best shows i've been to in a long time. i walked out with an AR15.

fort worth shows suck. they're half the size they used to be. market hall seems to be one of the better ones lately.

I'm pretty sure there is a show at Market Hall this weekend. I'll not be making that one as I'm still gettting ready for a first-time-ever "Swap Meet" at our place Sunday afternoon. (If interest, details at bottom of home page of web site below.)

Yea, Denton County Sports Association will have a table at the next Denton show, which is the weekend of April 22/23. In talking with the sign-up gal on the phone earlier this week, she said that while the Big Town show has traditionally been their largest, the gate at the first one in Denton exceeded by over 1000 anything they had ever done at Big Town. And, in that building, they have lots of room, if needed for more vendor tables.

I'm semi-excited about it. Years ago, we exhibited at some of the DFW shows, but the traffic there was not necessarily chock full of DCSA's "target market" - local people - which I think the Denton show will be.

Greybeard,

I guess I got my "months" mixed up on the Denton show....For your "Swap Meet" tomorrow, can anyone come? Or is it just for members?

Thanks,

It started out as for members only, but I doubt if we'd run anyone off for not being one, especially txchlforum members!

Some others are known to be bringing friends, so come on out and "participate" if ya want. I'll be in an orange hat, likely at the tie-off table, so catch me (or Traci) first thing and one of us will get ya a name tag.
