Kahr price ?

Why are these things so expensive???? They are in the same price range as a Glock/XD...are they that good???

Remember....you are not going to buy a "block" you are getting a Kahr...at least that is what the ad says........

I believe it was Kahr (I have been wrong more than once in my life) that placed a Kahr next to a wooden block, which was a nice way of insulting the glock.
The advertisement was something to the effect of why buy a block?

Didn't mean to be confusing. There are some awesome side by side comparisons available the net...they are a good read.

In my opinion they are much better then a Crock (glock). I had a Block 27 and got rid of it as it was uncomfortable. I won a Kahr in a drawing and my wife poked both my eyes out to get it.

The trigger pull of the Kahr, though long, is not spongy like a Clock.

I own both.

Kahr PM9 (9mm) conceals the best. I think it has a smooth trigger pull. Is more accurate than I am.

Glock 26 (9mm) holds 11 rds in a small package. Not that hard to conceal.

Glock 30 (.45) holds 11 rounds. Gets pretty heavy after a long day.

Not crazy about the glock trigger but these are carry guns.

I like each of them. Each has its place.

All are 100% reliable.

My PM9 gets the nod more often than my Glock 23; it's just a lot easier to drop in a pocket or a simple Mika IWB clip on, especially in the summertime.

It's a great little gun that initially had some QC problems as far as fit & finish, but always ran fine. Customer service made it right.

Kahr is a bit proud of them pricewise, though. If you're not especially stuck on pocket carry, I would recommend the all steel MK series- the build quality seems to be more consistent than the hit or miss of the polymer models.

I have the PM40 and it does conceal easier in a pocket. Have had a few problems, mostly during the break in period, but Kahr took care of them in short order. It shoots better than I do.

I own one Kahr pistol. An mk9 Elite 03. If the rest of the Kahr line is even close to the quality of this particular pistol then they are worth the money. Not a single malfunction of any kind so far and the trigger is very nice.
50 rounds of +p Gold Dots went through the bullseye in this target at a distance of 7 yards.

Gig, you need to find one to shoot. I think you may be surprised. I have a PM 9 that I thought I would only carry for deep concealment but it has become my everyday piece. I can't remember the last time I walked out of the house with my XD 9.

Its for a female friend of mine. She's 5' 10" and fairly petite and not extremely gun savvy but I talked her into getting her CHL and she is behind the idea now.

Finished the class, now needs a piece. I like what you guys have to say about the kahr and will probably steer her that way.

The smaller ones are more appealing since they can disappear not only in a purse but also in a jacked pocket.

I would advise against going too small as they are harder to shoot, but any gun, any size, is better than nothing at all.

Please take her to Champion's I think they have a Kahr among the rental guns.

I took my wife several places to shoot different rental guns. She did not like the Glock 23 or 27. She didn't like the Kahr. I didn't either. For both of us, it was the trigger reach being too short.

She dislikes the Kel Tec's most of all (P32 and P11). Being light in weight makes the recoil harsh.

Her hands down favorite gun is the SIG P225!!! She says she has never picked up a gun that feels as comfortable in her hand. It's too big for CC, for her.

She chose a SIG P239. Yes it weights more than a Kahr or a Glock and it's bigger too. But, she shoots it well and she is willing to tote the extra weight because it dampens the recoil.

I wrote all of this to point out: Let HER shoot it 1st and let her try things you might not choose for yourself.

It was my wife's idea to try the P239. I had dismissed it before as being too heavy.

You might have her try the S&W 39XX (I don't know the exact model) that they have at Champion's. I have read may good things about that gun. You don't have to have the "Lady Smith" version($$$) Other 39's are functionally the same, just cheaper.

If it's uncomfortable for her to shoot, she won't want to carry it, no matter how cheap or how expensive it is.
