Your thoughts on flashlights

Lets talk lights. I started collecting flash lights ever since a close friend of mine gave me a Surefire Z2 for Christmas. Ever since then I've been carrying the Z2 with a KL3 LED conversion. I also have a X200A, X200B, P9, KL5 LED head and a Gladius. Yeah, I've gone crazy on lights in one year.

What do you guys think about this?

It's the Pentagon L2 with a 3Watt LED. Pretty good price compare to the Surefire, but how are the performance stacked up against the Surefire?

I've been looking at flashlights also but didn't want to pay the money for a surefire or a Gladius. I have read good things about the strobe feature on the Gladius, but don't have the money to spring for one.

In the newest IDPA journal there was a write up and a new sponser, Digilight. I'm thinking about trying one of their lights.

I prefer the kind you shake back and forth for a fresh charge

I have never owned a tactical light of any kind and would need some convincing to buy one. I am sure they have some great uses....I have never found one that I can't solve with my little mag light.

DigiLights are AWSOME. they are just as good, if not better than the surefires.... and half the price. i first got to test one about 8 months ago and have been waiting for them to catch on since. i think DigiLight has a good future if people will pull their head out of the ground and stop worrying about brand name, or what "operators" are "using".

My Mom has one of those hand crank ones. You turn the crank for 90 seconds and it's good for two hours!

I also gave her a Surefire G2. It's good bang for the buck.

I've got a Surefire e2e that I carry, and a Surefire G2 that I keep by the bedside.

I take a 4D-cell Maglite when I go out walking at night (the e2e is my backup) and I have a 3D-cell Maglite in my car.

That said, if therooster thinks DigiLights are that good, I'm gonna have to check them out.

Those are great prices!! I'd better buy a couple before everyone makes a run on them and they raise their prices in line with Surefire.

I'm looking at buying 1 or 2 of the digilights.

I'm considering the LXK-53B or the T6 as a weaponlight for my AR-15. Both are stated to be shock resistant. I'm curious if rooster or anybody else has any experience with these?

What's scary is that I completely understand the urge to be a flashlight geek, which has to be the same tendency that caused someone to create flashlightreview.com.

I've got a dozen or more (not including "drawer lights"), but I don't think I paid more than $25 for any of them (probably a 3D MagLite, back when big and heavy was cool).

My current favorite is the "Cyclops". The 2-pack for under $20 at Sam's is pretty hard to beat for a 2x123A Surefire clone. I've got several LEDs, but the only ones I like were also a 2-pack at Sam's. I forget the brand, but they're silver and use a 3xAAA carrier. They have a traditional rubber button instead of a tail clicky. Good light, with only the slightest blue tinge.

The problem with most LEDs is that they can be bright as all get-out, but they have a very narrow spectrum, and don't illuminate the subject well enough to identify. Incandescents, especially Xenons, throw a full spectrum of light that refracts and reflects well, so you can identify the target.

I ordered the T6 with pressure switch and mounting rings and the camo one(cheap backup light). With shipping it was just over $100 for the whole deal.

Will see how good it is. Couldn't go too wrong for that price.

I carry a black aluminum led light i picked up al wallyworld for about $20. The brand name and a lot of the finish have worn off and i dont remember the make anymore without going and checking to see if they have anymore. But the thing works well and comes in very handy. It is very bright and will easily blind someone, as well as more boring tasks like making sure i dont trip over my own feet or get the right key in the keyhole. Fairly cheap, and has been through all kinds of abuse and hasnt had a hickup yet. Also doesnt have the colored tint my last led had, and has much better range.
