I've posted a few times here, but somehow missed this thread.
Anyway, I'm 35, I have a beautiful wife, 3 beautiful kids, we've been married for 13 years, and we live in D/FW. I am a software developer. I do have my CHL (although it's fairly recent).

Re: Introduce yourself
Greetings all first time here, looks like a great forum so far!
Age - 33
Gender - male
Profession/school status - IT guy (Business Systems Analyst), fugitive from aerospace industry
Marital status - married in 2002, had son #1 in 2005, son #2 in 2007
Years CHL - see signature below
Texas State Representative House District - 122; Frank Corte, Jr. (northside of San Antonio)
Guns/equipment - Glock 30 (.45)
My claim to fame (ok, I added this one) - got a couple of commentary pieces printed in my former local paper, one of which was in response to a series on restraining orders, pointing out their weaknesses as a method of self-defense; it was then reprinted in the magazine of the state affiliate of the NRA (I was pretty excited).
My story in a nutshell:
"I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could," from another may-issue state that will remain nameless (unless of course you go read the link above). People mistake me for a linebacker (though I never played football) or a cop (must be the bald head); that might contribute to the fact that I've never been mugged nor thrown or "received" a punch in my life. I never really had any desire to own a gun until I got married. I hadn't given much thought to my responsibility for my own safety, but as soon as I brought that lovely and wonderful woman into my house and life, I started considering that something might happen that would result in me failing to protect her. And that scares me more than my own life being taken. Got educated and purchased the aforementioned G30; never did apply for a CHL in our previous may-issue state but now that I'm here I'm working on it!

Hello, chiming in a bit late. But better late than never.
I am:

Nursing Student/Limo Driver
Missouri City, Tx (South of Houston)
Carrying less than a year but collecting handguns for almost two.
Currently carrying a Springfield Armory 1911GI--High Noon Holster

Other firearms include:

Girlfriend carries:
Sig P232

Goal in life: Wish to become either an ER nurse or a flight nurse. Why not be a doctor? Never had an interest. Wish to one day own a Browning Safari (30-06) and a Remington Rand 1911.
Reason I joined: Frankly never knew this forum existed. I am a member of Family,Friends,Firearms; Defensive Carry; and M1911 Forum. Member of other forums but they are brand specific.
Interest: Mainly Computers and mobile computing. I love notebooks, own 4 of them. I love smartphones, own 3 of them. Why not work IT? I prefer to have fun with something I love, not work with it. Handguns is my other addiction. Member of MobileGadgetNews.
Hope to one day share what I know and eager to learn what I don't.

Re: Introduce yourself
I had no idea this forum existed until I ran across a mention on THR I believe. This will be "home" from now on! Our Big State needs it's own forum and this one is extremely well done with good people.
Board handle is "Beaucoup Ammo." Friends are always kidding me about the amount of ammo I have stored! My motto is "better too much than too little!"
Real name is Johnny. I helped start Clear Channel Communications here in San Antonio back in '75 and retired at age 50 in '96. I spend a lot of time at the range and got my CHL 2.5 years ago after being mugged outside an Olive Garden Restaurant. I walk with crutches half the time and use a wheelchair otherwise. Guess those of us with "disabilities" are viewed as easy marks by the scum bags in this world. Ha, never again!
My interests are shooting, traveling, shooting, cooking and shooting.
I have a "Snubbie" jones, but love my KAHR P9..the first SA I've ever owned. I'm a Wheelman at heart.
I'm happy to be here. Thanks to the person that started this site.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hello Folks,
New to Texas CHL Forum. I've been lurking for a while, but finally decided to make it official.
I'm 50, Male, been married for 27 years, and live in Frisco... and love to shoot. I'm an exLEO (Bedford and Dallas). Undergraduate degree from UT and graduate degree from Carnegie Mellon. I've had my CHL for 4.5 years... my wife and son (25 yoa) passed their CHL training two weeks ago (yes, I'm very proud of them). I'm a member at Bullet Trap in Plano. I usually hang out on Glocktalk.com under the same user name.
Here's my daily carry... a G29 ( yes... I'm a 10mm convert) in a Milt Sparks VM-II
I've been know to throw this is my pocket...
and I have a G17 with a TLR-2 for home defense.

Re: Introduce yourself
New to the forum, time for an introduction:
26 y/o male
Born and raised in Dallas, went to Duke for college, and eventually came back home to Dallas.
Before August of 2007 I hadn't even shot a gun before - my parents never owned any firearms, and frankly I was a bit anti-gun, having been ignorantly influenced by the media and whatever garbage the Brady Campaign had fed me in my youth. I took an intro to shooting class at the Bullet Trap in Plano mid-August 07, and now I am the proud owner of a Sig P226 9mm TT, Sig P228, Sig GSR Revolution STX, SA XD40 TT, Browning Buck Mark .22LR, and a Remington 1100 12ga. Oh and a Sig P220 Carry Equinox on the way. Took my CHL class 2/2 and mailed my packet 2/6. Along this relatively short ride I've converted a few of my anti-gun friends, and warmed up my parents to the idea of concealed carry (my mom likes working late at the office by herself).
Great to be here - lots of good education to be had.
Howdy!

Re: Introduce yourself
New here.
39-year-old male.
Been shooting since I was about seven. Got my first gun, a .22 rifle, for my eighth birthday.
My first handgun was a Smith & Wesson Performance Center Shorty Forty. I bought it in my twenties when living in Garland.
A few years later I bought a Smith & Wesson Sigma SW40F. Both are in .40 S&W.
I lost the Shorty Forty to a pawnshop in Irving in the late nineties.
I went through one of the earliest CHL classes. Didn't actually send in the aplication for some time after that (a couple years, I think) because I was too broke to afford the fee.
My CHL has been expired since 2001. Again, mostly because I've been too broke to get it renewed. Planning to get it renewed within the next few months.
Just moved back to Texas a few months ago after three years in California.
Living in Denver City, TX while going to nursing school at New Mexico Junior College just across the line in Hobbs, NM.
Texas State Rifle Association Life Member.
Was in the National Rifle Association and a Charter Founder of the NRA Second Amendment Task Force, but need to get those renewed.

Re: Introduce yourself
28yr old male.
Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, moved to the States around 4 years ago but continue to work for UK based company and travel back and forth. Lived in DC until I moved here 4 months ago.
Married an Austin girl and moved to Austin when I finally got through to her that we could have a nice house in Austin for what we were paying for a apartment there! Lovin' it so far.
Work as a Marine engineer for the MOD, basically run ships engine rooms. Also maintain weapons onboard, browning HP's, SA80's, GPMG's, 20mm and 30mm cannons and recently miniguns. Now and again get to fire then, those big boys are fun! Kind of sucks to clean them after! Those 30mm take 2 people just to lift the barrel!
Always been interested in firearms but UK laws make it very difficult, DC wasn't much better! So moved to Texas got me a pickup, a dog and a gun, so I'm fitting in.
Booked up to take my CHL next week.
Own a Beretta PX4 9mm, first of many!

It is a cliche that most cliches are true, but then like most cliches, that cliche is untrue.
