I use my 870 Express with the original 26" barrel and a +3 mag extension. I also use it for goose, duck, quail, dove, and hog hunting :) For the migratory birds I put in a home-made plug that limits it to the mandatory 2+1 capacity. I do get funny look when I pull that LOOOOOONG dowel out of the gun though! :)

I have a 870 Remington Super Mag with a +2 mag extension and an 18" barrel (on order) loaded with 3" 000 Buck. This will become a dual purpose shotgun; home defense and hunting.

I also have an old Springfield 67E with an 18" barrel loaded up with 00 Buck.

My wife truly believes the sound of a good pump action shotgun in the middle of the night is the best inducer of weak bowels (and capitulation) in any intruder who happens to make a very poor decision to pay us an uninvited visit...

How can you argue with logic like that???
I agree with Stevie. There are two things in the world that nothing else sounds like....one is a snake dropping off a log into the water, and the other is the sound of racking a shell into a pump shotgun. At my house it's a Mossberg 500 pump backed up by a Taurus Judge revolver which chambers both .410 shells and .45 Long Colt. If the 000 buckshot in the .410 doesn't solve the problem, then the .45's will.

Winchester 1300, 18" cylinder bore, full length mag. Loaded with 7 2-3/4 inch No.4 Buck, plus five slugs in the buttsock.

It's in the original wood stock, but I would like to add a Knox buttstock for recoil management (those 1300s have some serious kick!)

I have a fiber optic front bead, but I'd like to add a red dot of some type. And if I'm getting all tacticool, might as well add a flashlight to the foreend.

You soooooooo should. I did a class with mine once where we fired all 00 buck and slugs. It was like firing bird shot all day, while those with standard stocks were hurtin!
