Mars & I are going w/ Dad.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

As mentioned on another thread, my wife (who used to post here as G-Ma) and I are planning to be there on Saturday from opening whistle until about 1400 or so (have to be elsewhere NLT 1630).

Yes the show is posted and several of Houstons finest are posted at the doors to zip tie your gun. Also dont make the mistake of unloading and sticking your magazine in your pocket as they frown on that. Not that you couldnt go in and buy some ammo and a new magazine to start your killin spree but maybe that hasent occured to them.

I always thought the main reason was because they didn't want a CHLer to pull out their piece and show it off "Hey look at my gun" while it's loaded. So they make everyone unload (Except uniformed police officers, of course.

What are the parking options? It's been more than five years since I've been to a show at that site. They used to charge an arm and a leg and that's one of the reasons we stopped going. Now that the Astros have moved downtown, do they offer free parking?

So why is everyone okay with the show being posted, but not okay with other places being posted?

It may be the perception that if too many people raise a ruckus about having their weapons inspected by the LEO's, the show could go away. There have been negligent discharges at gun shows even with the "disarming" requirements. Get too many of the politicos worried about having a few hundred (thousand?) citizens packing in close quarters and they'd shut down all gun shows in Houston faster than you can say "oops".

I'm not saying I agree with this viewpoint, just offering it as a discussion point. I don't think "everyone" is "OK" with the posting, just not willing to rock the boat at this point.
