Thanks everyone. I feel better prepared knowing a little bit about the area I will be going to. Houston is not top on my list of places to go but I still intend to enjoy the company of my friends. We plan on being out of there well before dark. Thanks again for all the info.

I don't know what the boundaries of WestChase are. The district headquarters are on Richmond, which is about a mile north of Harwin. My recollection of that area is that it's mostly office and commercial buildings.

There are a lot of scummy apartment north of Briar Forest, west of the Beltway. Also along Beechnut near the Beltway.

There are few places in Houston that are more than a mile from a high-crime area.
