JSC Federal Credit Union - Must Disarm?

Help me out here. I thought that it was a federal law (regardless of state CHL rules) that you can't bring any gun into a federally chartered or insured bank. 30.06 sign or not, isn't it still against federal law to bring a gun into a bank?

I doubt that federal law exists. There may be a law that states you can't bring guns into a federal bank. As in federal reserve bank. And those are NOT the same as your local FDIC or NCUA bank/credit union.

The federal reserve is private property, not federal. (Yet another reason we need to destroy that beast.)

There is no federal law restricting firearms in banks. Only a couple of states ban carry in banks (I think NC is one, and I forget the other).

Yep, but those banks still get robbed by armed criminals...These signs really do work don't they!

I kinda feel like a hypocrite having an account there still, going on for over 30 some odd years...

JSC is one of my clients, and they have NO PROBLEMS knowing that I'm heavily armed when I do their repo's and serve their Civil suits. As a matter of fact, a number of their employees are signed up to take the CHL at our range! I better warn them to pay extra special attention to the 30.06 part of the class.

I called a federal prosecutor and talked to him. He checked the law and he agrees with the above opinions. I guess I was just dead wrong assuming that there was a federal law prohibiting all guns in federally insured banks. BTW, after I talked to the prosecutor last Friday, I carried my concealed handgun into my bank on the way home!
