Don't you think it's ironic that the only time you get to show your CHL is when you buy a new gun or when you get pulled over by the police?

I was asked for another form of ID other than my DL just a couple of weeks ago. credit cards, SSN won't do she says, but I will accept a vaild handgun license. Showed it proudly and all was good.WildBill wrote:Don't you think it's ironic that the only time you get to show your CHL is when you buy a new gun or when you get pulled over by the police?

I had to renew my drivers license just last week. The clerk there asked to see my CHL. Not sure why, was not carrying at the time, but did not mind showing it to her. Did not really appreciate her telling the whole room in a loud voice that I was CHL

Not to hijack the thread or anything , but I would suggest that it is not to smart to carry around your SSN card. Only bad things can come from that.elwood blooz wrote:I was asked for another form of ID other than my DL just a couple of weeks ago. credit cards, SSN won't do she says, but I will accept a vaild handgun license. I know several people who carry them on their person and can't understand why. One time, I was asked by a bank teller to see my SS Card. I told him that it was at home in the safe. He acted like he was surprised that I didn't keep it on me. I asked him if he kept his card on him and he stated that he kept it in his wallet. I asked him why and he asked, "aren't you supposed to keep it with you all the time?"

I carried a Military ID and a Mass Drivers license around for more than a couple of years. both ID numbers were my social security number. Nothing bad ever happened.

I am just suggesting that carrying around a piece of ID that you don't need isn't a good idea as it might get lost. Sort of like carrying your passport every day when you aren't planning to leave the country. Nothing sinister.

You got a point, I did end up losing my social security card about 25 years ago, and still haven't been able to get around to replacing it. I understand that it is a big hassle trying to get a new one these days.WildBill wrote:Liberty -

Nah, it is pretty easy. Had to do it after a pet/water/moving accident a few years ago.Liberty wrote:You got a point, I did end up losing my social security card about 25 years ago, and still haven't been able to get around to replacing it. I don't mind showing mine, even though I hate the picture. I paid a lot of money for it. It should have come with a holster and practice ammo.

Yeah, I''ve used my CHL as a second form of ID a few times and never got so much as a comment about it.elwood blooz wrote:I was asked for another form of ID other than my DL just a couple of weeks ago. credit cards, SSN won't do she says, but I will accept a vaild handgun license. Once, when cashing a check at the bank, I accidently handed them my CHL instead of my DL. They cashed the check and didn't mention it. I didn't realize I'd given my CHL until she handed it back.
