Barrel change-out...

Ok,

Wife Unit went to the ladies class this last Saturday, and one of the girls there just bought, and first shot her own pistol she purchased on her own that morning...

It was a Sig 22??? firing the .357 Sig round...

Now I have heard a lot of good about this particular load, and have considered getting just the barrel to interchange between the .40 I have now in the SigPro 2340, and this barrel, which would basically give me two guns for the price of one, almost...

The magazines work for both calibers, so there is practically no need to do anything else other than switch out the barrels...

I kinda like that...

Wife Unit shot the other girls pistol and seem to take to that caliber and pistol real well...

So...

Other than going to the manufacturer, what frequent and local gunshow vendor/supplier (y'all might know of) might have the best barrels to fix this issue???

I have actually seen a few barrel vendors at some of the local shows, but never really looked at this until now...Just trying to get edumacated before the next opportunity to go shopping...

I figure they cannot be more than $50-$60, if that...

Well, you're in for a surprise. You can definitely drop in a factory 357 Sig barrel in your 2340. No problem. BUT, it's going to set you back $150 minimum for a new one. You might be able to pick up a used one in the classifieds here: http://www.sigforum.com or look on ebay.

The 357 Sig is a great round. I have several pistols chambered for it and prefer it over the .40.

Well that certainly changes the dynamics of all this...

I could have sworn I saw some barrels (.45's etc etc) that were in the price range I mentioned...And I figured they were not a low end product...Or maybe they were...

Ahhh...And I also found out the recoil spring I have for the .40 should work just fine for the barrel swap...

That was kinda another issue I was thinking about as well...

We have 2 SIGs, a P229 and a P239. We have SIG factory barrels in 357 and 40 for both guns. I would recommend that you buy a SIG factory barrel if you want to carry it. Totally reliable. SIG factory barrels are about $150, EFK FireDragons are $139, KKM precision are $169 and Bar-Sto is $200.

I just spent $214 on a Bar-Sto conversion to 9mm for the SIG P229. I have waited for 2-1/2 months for it to arrive. I put it in the gun TODAY and upon chambering the 1st round it locked up and won't go into battery and I can't pull the slide back to eject the live round. It's just stuck with about 1/4" of the guide rod sticking out of the front of the slide. Did I mention I'm irritated!!!!!

Anyway, spend the $150 get the SIG factory barrel and you will be happy about everything but the cost of 357 SIG ammo. And the "perceived" recoil is a little less than the 40S&W(per my wife)

If you don't mind reloads lots of people seem to like Georgia Arms "Canned Heat"

"OE" I can tell yer irritated...HV and I responded to your problem in your other thread just now...He beat me by 60 seconds...

Sounds like your going to have to horse that thing real hard to clear it...

Please be careful most of all, I don't want to read about it other than on this website...

I was thinking other than that a round may be the problem, but certainly something mechanical about the gun may be the culprit...

I'm sorry if it turns out to be that $200 aftermarket barrel...

I'd bet you a cold one that the chamber may be a bit off tolerance-wise...It sounded like it was cycling just fine before you chambered a round, and that that might be the reason...

Let us know how it goes...

I can't think of another way to clear it other than what HV suggested...
